Helping offline customers build a email list: still a good option(yes/no?)

I know most people are going to say "SMS texting" is the way to go not email and many that say that will probably have never even put a SMS campaign in place. I know all about the SMS stats,etc......BUT

I like the idea of using a QR code that sends the customers to a mobile op-in page. This allows the customer to create their own version of Groupon.

Of course the customer will get coupons, specials, free reports etc....

Building a list of targeted prospects is the most profitable asset a business CAN build. (and increases the value of the business should they decide to sell at a later time)

The more contact information collected the better. The decision regarding the best format to use must be based upon each individual market's demographics.

yep, helping your clients build an email list is great for them..

usually businesses have thier own lists, but dont market to them at all... you can help here alot too.

either way, its a valuable asset for every business and they should all be thinking of using it.

Every business should be using every opportunity and channel to capture their prospects and customers. So yes, as suggested, building BOTH an email and sms list is the best answer. As Mobile Marketing matures, the most successful marketers will be those who embrace multi-channel, micro-targeted campaigns. Using one keyword for a business, blasting all sms messages to all customers, is simplistic marketing at best. It will work for a short while....
