What do you charge for SMS marketing?

Hey guys,

What would you charge to handle SMS marketing for a restaurant if you had a marketable list of 1,000 or 5,000 people? What about 10,000 people?

Are you looking for market pricing because you are getting into this business or are you looking for a quote?

There are many ways to establish your pricing. You can do monthly per text per bundle. it is truly however you think your clients will benefit the most.

First, you would need all 1,000, 5,000 or 10,000 ppl to opt-in into your list, which I think might take a little while. Second, figure out what they could make on this and price it accordingly.

Example: If they have 1,000 ppl and the redemption rate is 7% (LOW end) that would be 70 ppl redeeming the offer each time it's sent. If each offer will make the restaurant about $20 then their looking at $1,400 (low end) EACH time they send the message out. If they send it out twice a month then they are looking at $2,800 additional revenue for the month.

So using those numbers you could figure out a fair monthly price for your services.

    I hope that helps.

    Here's a better question.

What services do you use for text blasting, and what costs do you incur? I have seen many sites, but, can't find anything that's super clear.

Jeremy, I bundle messages at 4.5 cents per message sent. The price drops as the volume increases. With that said I may be changing my pricing structure.

    I been researching this also..
seems pricing table for different niches are for sure needed.

i have it starting at 500 and overage rate starts @.085 then 1000 , 2500 and the overage rate goes lower.

all prices i give are managed (added 50-60$) for this type of method because we know most owners are going to slack on some part of the regulations and format and cause more troubles in the end. but if they are determined i can drop the management fees.
Keywords start off with 3 at the lowest. and extras only 10$ a month.

now for real estate agents i guess the best method would be giving them the option of managed but you will have to work something out with keywords. think it would have to be cheaper for the keywords because of how much they may use. so making sure you have a proper sms provider will come in handy at this phaze.
but real estate agent most likely wont be using as much SMS's compared to a retail so package prices will be much lower.

I think a per message cost is the most efficient! You do have to take into consideration that a restaurant may get a couple dollars return per redemption and a car lot may get a couple thousand dollars. Obviously, if your getting the same redemption rate for both your making the second company a lot more money and they would be willing to spend more.

I use TXT180 because of cost and how easy it is to use the control panel. Lime, trumpia and eztexting were also good platforms but had a higher cost.

I sell real estate as generic keywords (h1111 h1112) so they can be reused once a home sells and I just charge a per listing (keyword) cost as they do not typically use but 10-20 messages per month.

      Hope this helps and goodluck,

  • Hi All,

I have also been inquiring the same thing since a few days. A service provider by the name AvidMobile came across my friend when he was wanting to publicize his newly inaugurated hair salon. I must say he is quite happy with the outcome.

    Simple as this.

If you have thousands of local subscribers to your list then you would charge per text and market it to local businesses. This is what my competitor does here in my town and he sells 2 or 3 SMS blasts a day. He charges 6c per text and has 4600 subscribers. ($276 per blast.)
