Mobile Site Help Please

Hi Jim,

I've found the best way to get clients is to first target people who are already advertising. I've stressed this in other threads, but will say it again-- if they are running ads, then you know they have a marketing budget. It helps eliminate a lot of businesses who will only meet with you out of curiosity, not because they want to buy from you.

As for the specific approach, I always lead with the QR Code. I explain that they can add a QR Code to their print advertising and turn a static print ad into an interactive piece of media where they can disseminate more information than they could in their print ad.

When I meet with the business owner, I always do a demo in front of them of scanning the code and then showing them a sample mobile website that I have built. In the sample mobile website I show a contact page (with Click-to-Dial integration) and integration with Google maps. Fortunately, all smartphones will read a phone number as something that can be dialed and will automatically pull up Google maps by clicking on a Google Map link. I also show an opt-in form so that business owner can capture leads. I also include links to Twitter & Facebook for social media integration and then Yelp reviews as well.

I've found that showing the demo really gets business owners excited. One thing to keep in mind is that during the sales process, you should only talk about 25% of the time, with the business owner talking most of the time. Ask lots of questions and get the business owner to tell you what is lacking in their marketing strategy and then show them how having a QR Code/Mobile website will add to their strategy.
