Accountants- on Mobile and Social Media

Hi fellow Warriors

I got a hastily arranged (by them as theyll all be together for other reasons ) meeting with a bunch of accountants (or do you call them herd or flock ?) who are all aware they need to be doing stuff with social media and mobile.

So hot prospects aint the word. Now Im looking for something strategy wise to blow them away .

As theyre B2B SMS will be more of a challenge , mobile websites ....well will a Company Director really be walking down the street really searching for an accountant on their mobile . Of course they will be better than not having them but its unlikely to blow their minds.

SMS could be good for communicating advice and updates on law and best practices etc ie replacing email , but for winning new business or cajoling more £££ out of existing clients.

On the social side you got your FB pages, Twitter, Linked In is the best plan of action there ,setting up a localised focused group and making connections through it .

Im having a hard time coming up with something really special that will just amaze them (even accountants can get emotional!)

Any ideas greatly recieved whether proven or not (though be nice if you said either way) Cheers Warriors

Oakley signs and graphics is a company that manufactures signs for estate agents, it has over 35,000 fans on facebook and over 100,000 receive their weekly newsletter. - admittedly this is a national company.

But how do they do it ? by offering free marketing advice to their clients, estate agents. There is a weekly tactics newsletter, which is linked to a blog and facebook page. there are downloadable pdfs , of course branded to oakley.

Perhaps your accountants could follow this business model, and offer their clients ( the clients of the accountant ) free marketing advice. Maybe run a monthly competition for their clients - win a facebook page, or free one hour consultation etc.

This is also an opportunity to get leads from their clients.

You can also offer them business cards with qr codes, check out warrior bens signature

It is worth signing up with oakley signs and back engineering how they manage their facebook campaign - free help for estate agents. I have a lot of respect for Scott Levitt who manages the online marketing.

It is also possible to upscale this business model, just need to rebrand the pdf's , newsletters etc .

Plus the accountant would always need your input to manage the scheme.

Accountants are a tough group. Their subject matter is quite complicated for the average person to understand.

Since you are talking Social Media, I would think that you would have to be thinking about video.

Video Sells. Get each of the accounting "experts" to simplify and present 5 accounting topics. Videotape them. Post.

If there are 10 "Experts" in the firm and they each do 5, that would be 50 relevant videos.

Of course there are other ways to repackage and repurpose that content, but that's a pretty good start.

Good times, I'm in, with access to all their clients (400+ businesses) too after 3 months and with them personally recommending me (of course providing I deliver) .

    Time to upscale :-)

Should be some work coming Warriors way soon

    thank you
