hi. excellent reading so far on these threads. i'm new to offline. am i correct in assuming the process is simply cold calling businesses and offering to help with online marketing? could i start with something as simple as using the FB Offline Assault and setting that up for offline businesses and charging them $x ?

thanks for any help! i'm great selling over the phone so i think this is something i could do if i have the above correct.

    Hi TenaciousFlea,

In a very simple nutshell, yes, it is about cold calling businesses and offering your services. If you haven't checked out my Cold Calling thread, definitely do so before going forward. One of the biggest mistakes I've seen people make is that they try to close a deal on the first call. When that doesn't happen they get discouraged and give up. Make the whole purpose of your call to get the appointment and then go for the close during the appointment.

Best of luck going forward-- please keep us updated on any successes you may have!

    -Ben

I always try to close a deal on the first call. You either sell the introductory product or you sell the appointment.

Different products will require a different approach.

Good luck with your new business.

Welcome to the forum and the offline marketing world. In answer to your question, yes, cold calling is definitely a way to get started. Just try to remember that success is often a product of paying attention to the small details. Details like, exactly what services will you be offering, developing and testing your sales scripts, being able to deliver results and being able to continue marketing to find new clients while you still delivering results for existing clients.

Good luck to you and yours,

    Sheryl

    Hi TenaciousFlea,

Here is how I got a local business client.

I looked on Gumtree.com for businesses that were searching for SEO help.

I created a video review of his website showing him how he could make massive improvements including,
    - Collecting emails
    - On-Page SEO was incorrect
    - Using testimonials etc

HE CONTACTED ME to come in for an interview and I now look after his online marketing.

If you are good on the phone, simply send out 10 video reviews to businesses in your area who are advertising in the local directories (they are spending money already on marketing) and then follow up with a phone call.
