How Will Google's New Change Affect SEO?

So recently Google announced that they will change the search algorithm every 17.5 hours. Since SEO revolves around being able to manipulate the algorithm to get the best search results, does anybody think this will change things for those of us who offer SEO services?

Few things that are coming into play with the new Google algorithm:
    1. Fast Indexing
    2.
    Load Time
    3.
    Flash Sites
    4. Paid Links and Age of Link
    5. Analytics Data

You should be more mindful of the things that you publish. Make sure it’s unique, original and helpful to people. Don’t make articles just to suck-up to search engines as some people do. If you have local content farming websites, try to look at which keywords you could grab from them when the Panda update is implemented in your country. Perhaps you can be the one to rank first for that keyword phrase that you want since they’re getting kicked off the picture.

I agree with some of the comments here that content is very important and make it useful to the people. Google is very particular with it.

I can't imagine they would go to the trouble to update it that often. I think it will always be an issue of trying to stay ahead of google when it comes to SEO. Once you think you have it mastered they will change. Original and uniqueness will always be considered a plus in my opinion.

Google made 500 changes to their algorithm in the last year according to a Google chap.

However, whilst that mathematically works out at a change every 17.5 hours that is not the reality.

They could have all been made on the same day.

PS: I Googled 'Google algorithm to change every 17.5 hours' to get this info.

I cannot see Google actually coming out and saying something like this. We need to see the source on that statement.

Apparently, changes every 17.5 hours is based on an average, guessed at by people who follow Google. Make this search in Google -

    google algorithm change 2011 17.5

Sorry I didn't provide the link. Looking back on it now it probably would have helped make sense of what I was saying lol.

Anyway I just wanted to see everybody weigh in on it since someone told me it would make selling SEO a bit more difficult for people.

It's nothing new. The article was just making a statement on how often the algorithm DOES change; not how often it will start changing.

“Just last year we launched over 500 changes to our algorithm so by some count we change our algorithm almost every day, almost twice over,” said Google Fellow Amit Singhal.
It was an article on an already existing situation.

Hey would be crazy to switch it every 17.5 hours. It is going to cost them a lot of money and resources.

Yes the algorithm always changes from time to time but you just need these things to rank at the top:

    1. On site SEO
    2. Social proof
    3. Backlinks.

Google generally makes major changes to their algorithm a few times a year (e.g. caffeine, panda, ect)...and then makes minor tweaks and bug fixes in between (e.g. panda 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, site penalties, google instant, ect).

While there may be 500 changes a year they surely don't happen every 17.5 hours
