I just received an offline sales pitch at my biz and liked it!!

So interestingly enough as I sit here at my day job half doing work hanging on the offline forum a woman comes in to talk to me about a offline marketing opportunity for our business.

She had already called and spoke with our office manager about a month ago but hasn't been able to stop in when we were open.

Realizing that I too would be walking into businesses and store fronts myself I let her make her pitch. She was very nice and sweet but seemed a little nervous during the pitch but as I engaged in the conversation more she got more comfortable.

Her Pitch:

So she works for a company called Welcome to Town. They basically go around to new homeowners that recently purchased a home in the neighborhood and deliver a welcome basket. I'm sure many people have seen the mailers that come in after you buy a new house, but this had a twist.

They actually walk up knock on the door and ask for a minute of the homeowners time. They have nicely made woven hand basket full of community info from the Chamber, trash disposal times, local contact info ect. But the also supply them with coupons or offers from local businesses. The business can add whatever promotional item they want to the basket.

Basically this woman gives each company a 1-2 minute pitch/recommendation.

(jsut so you know i am writing this and her car still has not left my parking lot so this is fresh!)

She sales the package for $3.00 per home visited with a minimum of 10 visits a month. Plus she asks or $99 up front escrow to hold. She also said if I call her back by Saturday she will wave the $99 escrow.

So my idea:

On my postcard for my business I put a QR code that links to our mobile site and gives them a 20% of store purchase coupon or 1/2 off your first pool cleaning.

What do we think of not only her business plan but my idea from QR code mobile integration?

Also has anyone else been pitched by another offline marketer at their business? What did you learn that can help you?
