Google Maps and Places

Can someone tell me if these are the same thing or what is the difference? I am getting involved in offline and trying to learn all this so I can start offering services to local businesses. Also, how do you find good people to outsource this work to? I am nervous about getting started only to find that someone I thought I was going to outsource to is no longer taking new work or gone. How do you avoid this happening? Any help or insight is greatly appreciated.

The difference between Google Maps and Google Places is that Maps is simply a mapping service while Places is a more detailed service where users can post reviews and other pertinent information. As sdentrepreneur mentioned, you should probably search the forum and look at what other users have asked and the answers they received

I would suggest reading other threads and learning Google Places/Maps yourself. It's not rocket science. Outsourcing Google Places will be difficult because there needs to be much interaction with client, would be hard to middle man that correctly. Plus, your margins would be small....
    Good luck...

If you are just now starting out, I would recommend you to first do a few orders yourself so you can see how it all works, learn the ins and outs of Google Places, Then once you understand, you can then sale the service to businesses, as you get busy you can hire someone to outsource and tell them how you want it to be complete, if they drop the ball, atleast you will be able to pick it back up and complete the job for the client, and soon as you test people, you will find somone that you can count on to outsource the service to, Good Luck Mate

There are some tips and tricks to learn re: Google Places, search the forum and you'll find plenty of great ideas.

In its most simple terms, it all boils down to optimizing a Listing, optimizing a website (that is linked to the Places Listing) and then building tons of backlinks to the website and tons of Citations to the Google Places Listing.

In tight niches, the inter-relationship between the GP Listing and the website attached to it can not be denied. The 2 really work hand in hand in propelling someone to the coveted "7 box".

Don't use google places as your foot in the door concept, go for mobile marketing or social media it works way better. this is on the top of most business owners minds and then later you up sell them on google places.
Google places is a hard sale because you have to explain to much. Its easier to just include it as a part of a social media or seo package.

You can also offer them websites because a lot of the websites out there are outdated. You can update a website for them build a relationship then sell them SEO or whatever else you got.
