Google's coming to my town!!!

I heard a commercial on a local station today that Google is coming to our area (NE Ohio) and they want all businesses to "be connected" or some garbage like that. The ad talked about how Google will help your business by giving you a free site.

Ohio Get Your Business Online!

Just curious if everyone else has heard about this and what your thoughts are.

Haven't seen this before...but it looks legit. Partnering with SCORE and Intuit...interesting. Thanks for sharing

  • This is going on all over the country...

    Check the thread:Iowa Off-liners - Get Ready

I had a list of all the domains google has registered as of that date - it will give you an idea of where they are hitting all over the place...it is actually trying to get people onto INTUIT websites - not real great from what I hear...

I'm not from Ohio, but I just looked in to this to see what was being offered.

A 3-page website, a domain name, website hosting, and free email support for 30 days.

You get all this free for one year. If you love it, you can keep the website after that for just $4.99/month and the domain name for $2/month. And don't worry, you can cancel at any time.
You have to read their terms of service to see that when you cancel you lose whatever content you have on your site. (Oh 'Noice' as Onslow would say - for those into old Brit sitcoms.)

After the free first year you pay $2 a month for your domain name ($24.00/year for a domain name that costs less than $10 a year on Namecheap) plus you then pay $4.99 for hosting per month for a 3 page website.

I don't think this is a deal at all. Most web hosting companies offer a much better deal than that. The free website and domain name for year looks a lot like a 'suckers hook' to me.

I think Google is using their name to take bread and butter out of web hosting and web design companies all over the country - and eventually the world, knowing Google.

Intuit.com offers a 30 day free trial website and charges $7.99 a month there-after. I guess Intuit and Google just got married!

They need to stop banning information marketers from Adwords. Adsense sent me a $100 coupon for Adwords, and when i redeemed the coupon and set up my ad groups and keywords... i was banned 3 hours later. What's the deal with Adwords?
