Hey warriors, I have a question for you...

If you were brand new to offline marketing and had to make $300 in 10 days, what strategy/service would you use/sell?
#$300 #days

    $300 in 10 days? Easy!

I would simply focus on a Google Places service. All you have to do is claim a local business' google place.

And you can charge $300 to 1 client.

So you only need to get 1 client in 10 days.

But how do you get this client?

I would recommend 2 ways. Either cold calling, or walking straight into the business.

    Walking straight in:

Look up on google places and find local business' near you who have not claimed their google place yet.

Walk in there, speak to them about how many more customers they would get if they had a google place. Then charge them $300 to get it.

It might take you 10-15+ go's before you get a client, but you could potentially get one within the next 3 hours.

The first 5 or so approaches might not go so well, you might not be able to speak to the owner ect, but after the first 5, you will get the ball rolling and should be able to snag up a client

So get 1 client, make $300.

@lordauric & @ s62731...Those are both skill sets I feel confident talking about and can do to some degree (or outsource) but I do not have a background in sales and am really starting to learn how hard it is to make 40-65 year old business owners see the immediate value in having these.

Do either one of you have a general "script" of points or openings you use to make a business owner disregard the "abstract" of these things and instead concentrate on the value? For instance, how do you get you get your foot in the door fast enough to make them understand what a "listing" can do for them, or a mobile website?

I have been lurking for months now finally taking action, but I'm realizing that with no sales background, the "theory" vs. "practice" are two different worlds...

Oooh, thanks Mr. S...I'm a bit strapped for funds right now (that $300 is for my rent I don't have) so I'll have to bookmark this until I get a bit more stable...I am looking forward to seeing this though.

          Thanks for the share!

        I totally agree with s62731.

I also didn't have any experience in Sales when I started, but don't worry. It's not like selling a car.

Remember, although you need the money, these businesses really do need this type of service. One of my clients was showing up in Google local searches almost 5000 times a month, and only getting like 10-15 clicks. I've slowly multiplied that by 25%, and it continues to grow. Think about it: that's an extra 150-250 targeted people to their website, every month. My client more than paid for me after like a week or something.

One of my clients is well into his 60s, and actually was one of the easiest sales. Remember, people who are older and owning businesses have been around a lot longer, and are much easier to sell. They are looking for replacements to things like the Yellow Pages, which is exactly what this service is.

The main thing you want to do is prepare massive amounts of data that you can share with people about why they need this service. I've had the best results by doing this:
        1. Find the owners on LinkedIn or Twitter, and send them a message detailing the data and service.
        2. Call the owner directly (this is usually where I close, if I haven't already through the first platform).
        3. Walk in. This is the last ditch effort. Make sure you dress very well, are positive, and don't be shady.
I ususally allow 1-3 days between each contact, depending upon my schedule and the response. DO NOT copy and paste the messages you send on LinkedIn or Twitter. You want to make sure that everything is 100% genuine.
Good luck my friend! If you PM me I can give you some of the more detailed scripted information, but didn't want to take all the space of this post!

I would focus on one service and stick to that until you get the $300 you are looking for. Really this should not be that hard of a task to complete if you just work on it from sun up to sun down.

If I were you I would offer either Google places optimization or reputation management. Those are two easy services to sell and you can learn them fairly quick if you aren't sure already what they are.

I'll even help you out on how to sell them if you really want. After all I don't want a follow warrior living on the streets! Although I guess if you live by any major city you can just join the "Occupy" movement and live there in a tent for a few days if necessary.

Find a product that gives you close to $300 and sell like 2-3 of them.

You can use a car sticker and have many people see your ad or you can do online marketing.
