website catering to local needs

friends, i want to create a city specific website to help businesses in my area find new clients. any suggestions what that website should contain and what categories should it have?

    I think you might categorize it by business type; chiropractors, attorneys, doctors, dentists, nail salons, restaurants, etc.

    Try to think like your customers. What would they want to find easily in order to use your service?

    I think if I had a business, say a restaurant, and I heard of or found your site that will help my get clients, I would want to know right away how you are different, why should I use you instead of the thousands of other methods out there and what the costs are.

    As a brick and mortar business, I got hit with literally thousands of offers for advertising to get me new clients. And I'm sure most businesses do.

    You have to stand out.

        dear warriors can you suggest some cheap or free promotional methods to let local businesses know that my website listing local businesses also exists. any examples of websites doing this stuff are most welcome.
        i want to stand out and be different from few other websites which do the same job in my town.
