I talked to couple of local business here and they all are looking at 1and1 instead some company owned by individual. I think big guys want to get bigger like rich want to become richer. Does individuals IM's have any future

Have them Google 1and1 and decide if that is really someone they want handling their online reputation. On the first page I see titles like, "1and1 sucks" "1&1 will rip you off" and "1and1.com Internet Web Hosting Sucks" as well as a page that states they have 2.22/5 based on over 200 customer reviews.

As a brick and mortar business owner as well as an online marketer I would be open to a local company. 1and1 would definitely not be on my radar.

I've signed 3 one and one customers over the past few weeks! From what I've seen its a horrible service.

Talk about aggressive marketing campaign tho!

Are you planning on letting your marketing efforts and your income depend on what a couple of local business people tell you about some other product? Competition is what creates innovation, and innovation is what moves things forward. If you think that custom work will suffer because of some mass produced products, I would like to remind you that Mercedes Benz still sells a great deal of automobiles even though you can buy a Ford or Chevy for a lot less.

I promise you that you won't make a sale by telling a prospect how bad another product is. You will make a sale by showing a prospect what your product will do.

Do it yourself websites have been around since the day after someone spelled HTML and they will continue to be around because there will always be a market for cheap and quick web solutions. At a point in time when that business sees the need to improve their web presence, they will have to make changes. Having said that, there are business NOW that recognize the need for something more than a mass produced site can offer. It's your job as a salesperson to find those companies that want what your selling.

    Well...
    1. Don't sell just hosting to businesses.
    2. What David said.
    3. Simply be better than 1and1.
    4. Increase the percieved value of what you are selling.

Focus on possbilities rather than things like this. The way I see this is that you should take note of who declines your offers because they are using 1and1. A google search shows that they are bad, so make sure the 1and1 users remembers you for later when they are fed up with 1and1, or simply contact them at a later date using selling points you know 1nad1 don't fulfil.
