How to find people to cold call/email for you?

Hello where can I find people that will cold call businesses, email them, go the face to face appointments?

I am trying to find someone that will do this for me and we will split the profits 50/50 or a percentage.

Those are called sales people. By the way, what part do you play in this picture? May help in figuring out where to look.

Basically they get the clients, I provide the services, I get paid, and I give the person working for me a cut.

I'll just put it this way:
You need to be more forthcoming in your information if you're expecting someone to essentially be your partner, and for that fact, if you're reaching out to a group of people might be willing to help you.

If you expect to attract anyone to you you'll need to let them know:
What is the service you are providing
What's your experience in the technology
What's your experience in running a business (after all you're asking someone to work for you on a promise of a commission)

I agree with David. I do this kind of work--subcontracted prospecting for certain industries--and I'm highly paid to do it. If you are unable to share details of who, what, where, when and why, it's going to be tough for you to attract qualified candidates. People who call for $5/hr are not good at it.

  • I agree with the above poster, check that forum because you don't want to delegate serious telemarketing work to someone incompetent. It's worth it in the long run to do your due diligence.

You can try to find people on craiglist or kijiji. However you will usually need to purchase a dialer so you can monitor their calling and interview them in person as well as take care of payroll. I would not suggest o desk unless you are prepared to deal with a lot of incompetent workers with heavy accents that will damage the credibility of your business since they are the first contact between you and your potential client.

If you find a salesperson, and that's a very big if, you're going to have to train that salesperson (to some degree) about your product. You're going to have to explain why your product is better than the others that are out there, why your product is a good investment, how your product works, what problems your product solves, how it saves time or money or both, and why is the price justified....just to name a few. Then, after you've done all that...poof....your salesperson finds another job and you're back where you started.

      So, here's my suggestion:

I posted a thread on the Telemarketing forum. Hopefully I can get some people. Should I post on Craigslist or will I get low quality people?

Is there a strong reason you don't want to do it yourself? With the right training you would be better off because you believe in what you're doing.
As an ex telemarketing manager, it is hard to find the right people offline. Online is even more difficult, especially as you need quality people who you trust with your brand.

@laurencewins Well mainly because I am shy to cold call, dont want to go to the face to face appointments, and also due to the fact that I am 14

@laurencewins Yup exactly :/. Even though I've made tons of money online through internet marketing, and I have over three years of experience under my belt, companies will think I am not serious about and might think I'll think of this as a game.

That is why I want to find/hire someone to cold call for me, maybe even go to the face to face appointments and we'll split the profits 50/50

Now I'm totally impressed! If you can master selling you'll be in 7 figures before you're old enough to vote.

No one has to know your age over the phone.....phone sales gives you the whole country as your marketplace.

@DavidMiller Thanks for the compliment, and I hope I can make it to 7 figures. Been working on software and ebooks, hoping to establish myself as the worlds youngest internet marketing guru.

Anyways I am getting side tracked

I want to get someone to do it for me cause if I get someone good and that I know can get sales done I can basically only concentrate on delivering the service.

And with phone calls, comes face to face appointments and I dont want to deal with that just yet, and want someone else to do it for me.

Is there like a place to hire a VA or something ?

I think the telemarketing forum is going to be your best bet, but even at that it's not going to be easy. I'm just a LITTLE older then 14 and you'd be surprised at just how intimidating sales can be no matter the age.

I'm working on a new project and I have looked high and low trying to get someone to sell for me and finding a commissioned sales person is really a challenge. I've spoken with people I know personally and I know for a fact that they are excellent sales people but one of them HATES the phone and wants a telemarketer to make appointments for her, and the other keeps making promises and then backing off every time there's an interview for a salaried job.

So even though I'm not a fan of selling, I realize that I am going to have to just do it. No one is more excited about what I'm able to offer my market than I am, and I have to get that excitement to my prospect. I have no intention to bother with face to face sales.

Virtually anything can be sold over the phone. What can you show them in person that you can't show them in a GOTO meeting? I will also tell you that any business person will understand that you value their time, and yours, by using tools like GOTO meeting.

No one HAS to know your age! It's none of their business. All they need to know is that you have a product that will provide an answer to their problem. I think it was you that once posted and asked how do you find businesses without a website, and I answered by telling you to call and ask for their address. If they had the address, they had a website!

Well, now you just call back, ask to speak with the owner. If you joined the telemarketing forum, John has a free audio program that you can download. I think you should do that, and listen to it a few times. I have and it's a great source of information and I plan to put much of it to use myself.

You've come very far, you just need to go a little bit farther and you'll have the whole deal captured....I'll be learning the same stuff with you, and pulling for you too!

If this old man (old enough to be your grandfather! yikes!) can learn new tricks....you sure can!

Sorry but I don't know any of those sources but I did have a thought that might be helpful.....why not contact the placement offices at a college or university near you...any college student with half a brain knows that real world marketing experience is going to give them a leg up on getting a job when they get out of college....you're also less likely to come across some crusty old sales guy like me!

    Just a thought!

Nice! If there is going to be any residual payment to your sales rep just make sure that you and the rep have a clear understanding that in order for a rep to receive residual commission they have to be active with you and you have to define what active means. The way I've done that is to specify a number of new sales per month or week is what would be defined as active. Otherwise you might find yourself sending money to a rep who is no longer around to service the account.

@David I think the way I set up the payments would save me the issue with being active. We split the profits 50/50 so the more customers they get the more they make. If they get lazy so will their bank account

@David Miller For social media work would the price of $297 justify if I make a Twitter account, and a Facebook page for the client?

Do you hire people to make FB pages for you or do you use software?

P.S: I am still emailing back and forth with my "cold caller". Hopefully some examples of my work convinces him to get on board. Luckily for me he seems like someone who knows what he is doing even asking me about flyers and ads and some examples of my work

Not really sure where or who your market is but it seems fair in comparison to what I've seen others charge. Whenever I'm at a loss for pricing I do a little mystery shopping. Call around and see what others in your market are charging.....it may seem sneaky but it's a pretty common practice. We all get mystery shopped!

@mscopeland Nope. Wouldnt it better better (monetization wise) too land a deal with one business for a website for example for $397 then to sell the same thing to Warriors for $47 for example?
    {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[4947438].message }}
    • Profile picture of the author mscopeland
No, I'm not talking about that... I'm talking about you selling your services wholesale.
So, you charge $397 for website design. Your salesman makes 50% and you make 50%.
Your Wholesale price would be $200 for website design.

You're making the same money, but may have a BUNCH more salespeople!

If I can outsource to someone that does great work, for less than what I charge... BAM, I'll take it!

It is very difficult to find out someone who is willing to work on performance basis...
Be assure of following things while choosing telemarketer:
    1) Their Reporting system
    2) Do not go for odesk they have bunch of low cost telemarketers who do not perform
    3) Try for guru.com & elance.com but you will not find anyone who works on performance basis on these sites
    4) Ask them for lead to sale conversion rate...
    5) if they do have experience of selling same services as you do ask them for recording
    of any call.
    6) Check whether they provide report & recording if yes..do they provide it daily or weekly?

Run an ad for it. People will respond. Trust me, people will respond, and would be willing to do this for you if the price is good. Heck, some will accept for just $7/hr. There's Craigslist, magazine ads, newspaper advertising, classified advertising, internet marketing, and i think you get the picture.
