I feel like a "WF Crackhead" Right About Now!!!

Man, you know over the last 60 days, when I add up what i've spent, (and continue to spend buying WSO's) I really feel like a rabid azz crackhead! This is not really a rant, but I seriously pray that I am able to get my new site
up and running, and changed to my liking so that i can really get out here, and do some business!

I made a post last week, about what should I do for my first offline, appointment, and I ended up having to pitch her on the phone.
Money is a problem for her right now, so i won't actually sign a contract
with her until the 2nd week of November!

So the show goes on. I met a guy last night that owns a new restaurant
so I have an appointment with him on tomorrow. Im thinking it might be
important to have some way of eliciting information as to what their needs
are prior to making an appointment with him. Are there any resources available like that?

If he owns a new restaurant his needs are customers. You may want to ask him how much business he can handle and what type of deals he is prepared to give to get more business.
If you can do a mobile campaign for him - great.
You can also get him in Foursquare - lots of options there
UrbanSpoon and the other directories in addition to Google Places

Find out how much and how quickly he wants to grow and try and find a campaign that fits his budget. If you want to focus on restaurant marketing you could give him a discount for being your first restaurant customer and he can give you a killer testimonial. Imagine how much easier it will be to land more when you can say "hey this guy was brand new and now his place is packed night after night".

Wow Angie, that is great advice. Thank you so much! I'm going to do a search on restaurant directories, and see what I can come up with. I did a soft pitch to another guy who's a very successful restaurateur last week who's opening up another restaurant and landing this first client, will make landing the "big fish" a lot simpler, and easier process for me!

Wow. I couldn't see the forest for the trees!! Great segway Angmoore. How much business can you handle? What kind of deals are you prepared to give to get more business? Those are two simple but powerful questions. I MUST borrow them. Not only will that get my foot in the door, but I think I may get my leg and arm in too.

Offer to make a free video for him to prove your services are worth it. Go in a take a few pictures of his restaurant as professionally as you can and them make a simple slideshow using Animato or some other services like that. Then talk about how you could upload it to his Google maps listing. Plus, you'll be able to list him as a past client, which is a great tool to get new customers.

Also, you could work on Reputation Management for him. Most ppl think RM is just for ppl who have bad reviews, but why not build a good reputation for him in the first place? Set up some kind of process where his customers are enticed to leave good reviews. That will pay dividends for him big time. Reviews are VERY important for restaurants.

    Hope the helps!

Brand their business for them. I did this for a medical center. Branding is an easy sell because most local businesses just think of the obvious, normal stuff.

The doctor from the medical center asked me to design a website for them. She said they were re-branding their business and wanted a clean looking site.

I told her I'd put something together for her.

Then I put a package together that included every type of advertising you can think of in point form with headings and a brief explanation along with a cute little graphic beside each heading. I placed an approximate price for each task beside the heading.

Print advertising, business cards, signage, QR Code, website, SEO and so on made up the list.

The package was placed on a landing page of a professional looking WP theme.

E-mailed her the link with a brief explanation and call-to-action.

She called and said "I want it all". Then asked what a QR code was. Then how it works with a mobile phone. This was the signal to explain what I could do for them. Once they ask you a question you can expand on your proposal.

She mentioned she was having a graphics person do her business cards and uniform logos.

I told her it would be better if I did everything so we could brand her business properly and match her web presence to her print brand.

Local business owners can visualize their brand. They want someone to hold there hand through the process. You need to take control and let them know you can do it all for them. Sending them to a landing page so they can see everything laid out really works well.

Trying to sell a business one thing like a mobile site isn't as easy as being their go to "brand" person.

You be that someone. Good luck.
