How to introduce this idea to business owners over the phone [Monthly website rental]

Hi guys,

I am nearly finished with my website (which has some pricing and other information) for the monthly website rental model.

I intend on sending some targeted internet traffic to the site to try and get leads. I will test the site and tweak it to see if I can gain steady traffic and leads directy from the website itself.

However, I am also interested in cold calling, because it will bring me results almost immediately. I have a problem though, and that is, how do I communicate my offer quickly without being confusing, and still grabbing their attention?

If I was selling websites, I would ask if they had one or had any plans to get one. If they had one already and I was trying to sell SEO, I would ask them how they would like to improve their online visibility?

But what I am doing is a monthly website rental that includes website + monthly SEO to target X amount of keywords (depending on plan chosen) in their local town.

How do I get that across to them, on the phone?

I'm honestly quite stuck in what I would actually say to a business owner in a short intro of what I offer. I know what I offer inside out, but getting the idea over to them in 15-30 seconds is proving to be difficult for me to do without getting too deep and requiring more time.

Any ideas on how I would approach this on the phone?

I think it will be important to focus on the fact that you'll be able to provide them with fresh leads from potential customers looking for their services, rather than going into how you will do that.
It's all the business owner really cares about and wants to hear in my opinion.

    • Reverse Engineer it.

start with the end (your target market)

what do you do (what do you have, what do you really offer ???) that can solve their potential problems? get them biz? save them money?

      make a list
format good questions to ask them.

  • Before phoning them, I would make a 5-10 minute video showing them my offer especially if the rental website is optimized for their business and ranked on Page 1 of Google.

Also I would show them on the video how many searches there were per month for their business keywords and town just so they get an idea of how many visitors they may get.

I would then send them an email with a link to the video (make sure their name is in the link - it creates curiosity) and say you will contact them in a couple of days.

Two days later, phone them to check they've watched the video. Hopefully they have and are interested in your offer and any objections have more or less been eliminated.

If they're interested set up a meeting and go for it

I'm looking at the same business model, and the video is probably a good way to go...but another way might be to ask them if they are online, and (if so)....to search your particular keyword into google and see your site there.....that could be there site!

That just might be a quick way to do it over the phone.

Potential negative with that one: presupposes they are sitting their surfing the web just waiting for you to call

Having said that - the first call could simply be a little "tease" and might even help getting through gatekeepers, if you took the approach of the first call simply being focused on, "is there a time i could call you (or you could call me) when you're at the computer with google available? I've got something cool to show you for your businesses". Something like that maybe.........

What are you going to do for your prospect to get them more customers and make more money? I think that is what you concentrate on. They don't need to know the details, unless they ask. And even then I wouldn't go too deep as they may get confused. Concentrate on selling your sizzle, what the prospect wants.

Off the top of my head, I am assuming that is more customers or leads, and more revenue.

Open with something else to catch their attention, then get their interest and then use the momentum to talk about rental site... I think that much like QR codes, rental sites are a solution looking for a problem personally, the market is not screaming for them they are screaming for their own real estate that works...

The reason its hard to introduce is because the customer isnt that aware of the concept, and so they dont have any inward dialogue to work with, on top of that; the only inward dialogue they have toward the word "rent" isnt favorable.

If this is not true, show me ONE person who has sold 20 rental sites, and I will reconsider my opinion.

Again, I would open with something else.

Lol. I have pitch writing clients who have the most amazing approaches, but now Im stuck and I cant share certain things I have learned from working with them, because it would break their confidence.

Open with something else, get attention, get them interested, get them invested then parlay the energy into talking about your "better solution".

when the market isnt already screaming for something, you have to be creative about how you introduce it, because they have no thoughts on the subject for you to work with.

Everyone is taught from birth "own-dont- rent" in other areas of life, so you have to be covert about your angle, getting the foot in the door...

Then, I would go for another market after you sell it. Thats just MHO, worth whatever its worth. Dont create uphill battles for yourself.
