Hey people, the world doesn't revolve around the Internet.

Why is everyone here so focused on offering online services to offline businesses?

Aren't there other ways to make money offline? Or offline ways to help offline businesses?

Well, if I can make a generalization, nearly all Warriors are Internet Marketers. They're IMers first and offliners a distant second. So this forum ends up revolving around how to make more money from online methods dipping into the offline world.

Somebody feel free to correct me if I'm mistaken. I won't be offended.

Personally, I'm an offliner first and new to IM. If you have a question, feel free to ask and I'll give you the best answer I can.

Note that there *are* a lot of threads about cold calling/prospecting, advertising, copywriting (there's a separate copywriting forum) and other offline methods of helping clients. But if there's something that you don't see and that you'd like to know more about, you could always start a thread just like you did with this one.

    Hello NatureGal,

No offense, but the reason "this particular thread" is so focused on offering online services to offline (or brick and mortar businesses) is because that is the business model that people on this thread have a keen interest in.

    It's as simple as that.

Perhaps you might be more interested in some of the other great threads on this huge forum that is more in line with your business goals.

I do have to say however, that it seems from your statement "the world doesn't revolve around the internet" that this forum might not be a great fit for you in general. It is, after all, an online marketing forum.

Thanks Jason. Maybe I am on the wrong forum but I was hoping to find some entrepreneurs here who have found ways to make money by tweaking/improving an existing business model.

Hmm you'll have to let us know a little more detail about what kind of business model(s) / topics you mean, so we can give you intelligent responses.

Ok...how about this...my Dad owns a convenience store and for the past few months his business was down...he was getting a lot of customers but those customers were only buying lottery tickets and the profit margins on lottery tickets are very small so I came up with this idea of offering a daily deal. I setup a small table near the lotto machine and began placing items that either weren't selling or nearing their expiration and soon enough, we were selling more stuff. In fact, that worked out so well, soon I started placing all kinds of things on that table (i.e. used coffee makers, digital cameras, headphones, etc). Now we have people coming in everyday just to check out what today's deal is and in the process, they end up buying other items as well.

I'll give you another example. In my neighborhood, we have 5 nail salons in a two block span. Competition is very stiff so I worked out a deal where I would create, print and distribute coupons for them to local residents. I also worked out a deal with the local pizza and chinese restaurant where I would create and print coupons for them for free and in return they had to give out my coupons to everyone they delivered to.

The above two are completely offline ways of helping local business increase sales.

theres been plenty of threads about ideas such as this, thing is many of us would use the internet and/or mobile to distribute these coupons to more people, more effectively and more efficiently.

Congrats on taking winning action seriously and I too would like to see more totally offline influence and true marketing /business threads alongside the existing types of threads, so I guess I should start them !

It is an internet forum, but I too USED to feel it was too focused on offering SEO, Google places and the like. For a brief stint I was a true consultant. The pay rate is MUCH higher than offering services, and for many posters here I do feel they should get a bit away from their "online service provider" focus, as with a little tweak, they could be more unique and make more bank.

If I wrote I USED to think like that, is now I've done a 180 degree turn, and want to sell a VOLUME of mobile sites and services. So my focus is now on offering a form of "online service" again, as I want the VOLUME.

The idea of this forum is for online or offline marketers to get together and discuss different techniques and ideas. If you look around you will see all kinds of different variations of business models, and some very new.

If you went to a forum that was for people who sell lottery tickets, it would appear that everyone on that site would be talking about selling lottery tickets. It's not fair to say that they should change their business model. Plus, I am not going to just drop my business that I am successful at, not right now anyways!

You may wish to elaborate on your business idea, or there is a section "Called Joint Ventures" that could help you out.

I think the reason most threads are focused on online work is because people want to run businesses from home and the internet is the best/easiest way for most people to do it. I know that I can't hold down a regular job due to ill health so my writing work keeps the money coming in.

I am sure there are loads of offline ways to promote offline businesses as well but maybe you need to find a different forum or, as you have done, start a thread and see what answers you get.

Actually, the world very much revolves around the Internet. The world is all about the global marketplace and local businesses are learning to thrive and grow by leveraging the Internet and existing technology not only globally, but locally too.

Ok...how about this...my Dad owns a convenience store and for the past few months his business was down...he was getting a lot of customers but those customers were only buying lottery tickets and the profit margins on lottery tickets are very small so I came up with this idea of offering a daily deal. Since you seem to be very creative, why not look through the offline and mobile forums and see what others are doing and leverage things for yourself and your local businesses.

Seems like you would do well with things.

Aren't there other ways to make money offline? Or offline ways to help offline businesses?
Since you asked, here's one thread to look at:

One thing though. Ben does offline marketing and is a regular here talking about offering online services to offline businesses?

    Thanks,

    John
