Direct Mail and Email -- How to Address?

If you don't have the owner's name for a direct mailing campaign, who do you address it to? Is it appropriate to call in to ask?

What about for emails: let's say you want to promote a mobile site to a restaurant, but you don't have their name. Who do you address this to?

Thanks!

I suggest using owners name if possible. You can most likely find out the owners names by doing some searching. Use the local chamber of commerce that they are located in and see if they are a member. Just about all of them list the business owners name. You can also try Yelp and some other citation places found here in the forums.

If you can't get there name, then you can call and ask for it. Most should give it to you without any questions. Others may want to know why and you can just say that you want to mail him/her a package or something clever. Saying that arouses interest and curiosity.

Manta is also an excellent source for finding owners and operators...
