    In all honesty,

    Using a script is going to hold you back and here's why. When you use a script over and over, you start to form the habit of needing the script.

    Even if your cold call script works and you're getting lots of consultations/interviews, guess whats going to happen when you go to meet that biz owner face to face?

    You're not going to have your script, therefore your confidence will be gone, and the biz owner will be able to "sense" that you just aren't that confident in your services.

    What has been working wonders for me is simple:

    Walk into biz...

    "I've started a local biz making websites, do you have a website?"

    1) "Yes." "How's that working for you?" a. "Good..."walk out, no use in wasting either persons time......b. "OK, but...."Usually starts a conversation usually beginning with "Well I can never get a hold of the webguy to make a simple change...." I can almost always sell them on some service at this point.

    2) "No." "Would you be interested in sitting down with me in a few days to go over how I can build you a site for $199 that will bring in paying customers on autopilot?"

    #1 is usually the easiest sale as they have a site, know they need a site, just need someone to apply even a few simple marketing rules. #2, not so good as you are fighting an uphill battle.
