"Thanks for sharing" - Please stop.

10 replies
Is it me or is anyone else tired of seeing posts that simply say things like "Thanks for sharing." or "Great idea." or "Thanks...I'll have to try that."?

I understand that it's nice to thank someone for sharing their successful idea, but instead of wasting it on a post, how about just hitting the Thanks button?

I also realize that newbies make these comments to increase their post count, but how about asking a question and creating a useful thread instead? Or how about providing an answer to someone's question? That will go a long way towards being a respected Warrior.

    I agree..... thanks for posting that!

    Seriously though...... it does get annoying. I even get those kind of posts on some of my wordpress sites... "thanks for sharing, you provided many information"....:confused:

      hahaha... does the thx post usually follow w a local citation or backlink of some sort at least to "add value" to them??

      ya... live person etiquette doesn't always translate too well over to the web... kinda slows things down n adds no real value to the thread..

      n even if u were to ask them to not place a thx post, if the thread is long enuf n they ddnt read nor remember the req... ud get a "thx" anyway... . I think it's just something u just have to accept as part of how things work... just like spam or mktg calls... they'll never go away either! haha..

    LOL. It is funny though, I see it all the time in every different forum here. It IS usually followed with sig links and they flood a forum with 20 different posts in 5 minutes.

    Have noticed this increase a lot lately, or some misconstrued sentence which attempts to add some opinion to the thread but actually makes no sense at all. Been doing my nut in!!

    Its nearly as annoying as those threads that say 'How I made $2000 in 7 days, read it here' or 'Im gonna make 200 cold calls a day for the next 3 weeks and win XXX new clients '......and then 2 weeks later the same thread starter is nowhere to be seen.

    Yes, these type of posts are definitely annoying - you see an interesting title and the post count and think oooh this is going to be a good read and then see a lot of 'thanks for sharing' etc.

    Another thing that really annoys me is when they say, I have sent you a PM - well when I get a PM I am instantly sent an email and get a pop up on the site so I know when I have got one. People are starting to do that on Facebook now too!

    @mjbmedia is spot on

    If you are going to make such a bold statement you have to follow through with it or it will crush your creditably on the WF.

    However, I will say that even those thread sometimes spark something in someone else to get off their butt and take some action. You really just have to weed through all the information provided on this thread and only focus on what is going to help you.

    Back to the OP's concern. Yes, it is for sure annoying when ppl post those responses much like when someone starts an entire thread complaining about other ppl responses. haha jk mrcouchpotato.

    Everyone who is truly here to help and/or learn shares in your frustration!!
