  • I wondered what he was selling. I just didn't have the time to waste PMing him.
    • [ 2 ] Thanks
  • Lol.... Yeah knew he was up to something. I guess it serves as a good example of what NOT to do, that we all gave him a hard time.
  • I PMed him because I am looking for an experienced IMer to help me with something. I clearly explained that I wanted help on this one issue, and did not have time to take on any new projects. He responded with a vague "But" and I left it at that.
  • Well, that is a way to make money offline... Except of course it's really a way to SPEND money.

Gotta watch out for those MLMers. They're everywhere! Had one approach me on Skype. Said, "Hey we're in the same group here, let's chat," so I accepted his contact request. He then invited me to "Like" his FB page, which turned out to be for some other BS MLM. He was getting props on the wall from his upline for getting so many new recruits to the page, so something he was doing was working.

    Sigh...
  • Thats the reason why at WF soliciting PMs in your posts isnt encouraged. It's obviously a way to solicit something that you wouldnt say publicly for one reason or another.

There was another person awhile back starting groups to solicit clients for appointment setting and begging people in their posts "Please PM me".

The way I say it, that isnt fair to Allen Says (WF Owner).

He has set up a perfectly good advertising system here and several avenues for people to do it legit. You are just ripping him off and free loading from his forum if you do any other way.

"I will greet this day with love in my heart".

Part of that is following the rules and showing love to the people who provide the opportunities.
  • Them Amway reps are about as bad as those Send Out Cards reps . Aint that right Jack
  • Og Mandino, John?

    EDIT:
Read that book about a dozen years ago now...great for getting to the right attitude. Obviously the lesson line stuck with me.

    • Is there another?

      Cool that you recognize it!!

Og changed my life. When I was twenty one I had that scroll memorized and could quote it completely. Made such a HUGE impression and still does every single time I read. Such powerful words. Its the telemarketing forum creed in our admin rules and protocol section.

That was more than a sales book...it was divinely inspired.

I thought they had changed to quickstar years ago. My brother (not Michael Bucker from here.., although he is also my brother and also successful in sales) is an MLM'r. The "pro" kind who actually makes alot of money at it.

Not for me. Id rather start my own offline affiliate network. it makes more sense.

  • Yeah, typically when the words "Make Money Fast or Easy" are grouped together there is something fishy about the idea. That's not to say you can't make money fast offline, but there are no magic buttons to push to make that happen.

  • I can't believe Amway still exists. I had an aunt who got caught up in Amway back in the 80s.
  • No offense guys, but there is nothing wrong with MLM or Amway for that matter.

They are great business models. What matters is how people approach that business.

Do they do it ethically or use the methods you described above?

How many times have we heard that Internet Marketing is a scam? It all depends on the way you do business.

    Just my humble opinion

    • Yeah, great for the 1% at the top, not so great for the 99% who fail, statistically speaking. (To paraphrase a recent trend...)

Interesting. I think in 2011, this would get you banned from any/all online job sites. I wonder if there's a way to set this up so you're not charging people to work for you, at least, not so blatantly in advance.

It's certainly fair and reasonable to charge for business cards, logo polo shirts/uniforms, car magnets, brochures, etc, etc... so that could be a profit center over and above the actual sales of product (which should be the primary revenue generator, IMHO).

I also wonder if there's a s/w package that will track, as affiliate s/w does, what telemarketers brought in what sales reps who made which sales, and so on...? That's what I had in mind when you said "offline affiliate network."

  • I hate MLM. Had a guy try to pitch me for an hour on something called Pre-Paid Legal. After i told the guy i'm not interested in MLM, he began a rant about how this isn't MLM or Amway or anything else. I still declined this clown. His whole approach to marketing his opportunity was so primitive.
  • Yeah I was the first one to give him a hard time as my BS flag came up just by reading his thread tittle. lol
