Keyword Selection Case Study

i've been lately playing around with google keyword tool, i found some intersting keywords and need some guide here..

Location :US
Lang: EN

Keyword: creative blog names
Local Monthly Search (Exact Match) : 1300
Global Monthly Search (Exact Match) : 1600
CPC:0.5$
Domain avilabilty: creativeblognames.com (Free to reserve till now LOL)

Analyzing top 10 google search for the keyword (Using SEO Quake):

i found 2 domians with 0 PR and almost 0 YL
and only one domain with exact keyword in title and url
the rest of domains PR between 4 - 2



My question here, What if i made a website targeting this keyword with
the following options:

domain name = creativeblognames.com
content = unique content 90%
on page seo = 95%
Back Links = 100

what will be my serp position ? 1st page of google ? 1# for the keyword ?
and what i missed here in my analysis ? what else should i do when selecting my keyword ?

  • Hi Darker - welcome to the forum.

    Its good you are playing around with the KW tool - when doing Key Word research it is one of the most important free tools out there.

    In regards to your questions above I dont see why you cant rank on page 1 quite quicky, and then take the first spot. You need to make sure you are adding 100% unique content though, not just 90% - especially after the latest Google update.

    You mention 100 backlinks - the number of backlinks are not important, what is important are the quality. Idealy you need a mixture of signature links, blog posts with your link in them, social links and article directory links - the more diversted the more natural your site appears to Google.

    Your onpage SEO should always be 100% - so you will need to make sure your titles contain your keyword, your articles contain your keyword as H1 size, your key word should make up around 2% only of your content and it should appear in the first sentance and in the last sentance. You need to make sure your meta data is correct, and also that you have installed All In One SEO for Wordpress. You will also have to have XML Sitemap for Wordpress and then upload your sitemap to Google Webmaster Tools.

    Another think you may want to consider for the future is how are you going to monatize your site? The CPC is extrealy low so Adsense is out of the questions. I would have said an affiliate link to a domain registra would be a good one - you can find a list of great creative domain names (keep it updated) and then tell your visitors they can purhcase them now at www.xxxxxxxxx.com and for every sale you will make a commission. You could go a step further and promote hosting aswel as the commissions offered by some companies are great.

      Regarding the mentioned subject what you recommend ? start building on that keyword and test my skills ? or search for alternative high search volume and cpc keyword ?

      i found this other keyword "baby due date calculator" which is also can be EMD
      is it possible to get on 1st google page with all these high competition ?

      google 1st page competition PR between 6-3 ? or i will be #1 if i applied Adam technique ?

  • There are thousands of factor that play a role in ranking of website on search engine and on them having keyword rich domain is one. So having keyword rich domain does not guarantee that your website going to get ranked on that keyword, it only help to some extent and you need less off page seo support to get rank to top position of SERP
