Cold Emaling? Any One Use A Template?

So sometimes I will get emails from "seo companies" that want to help me rank my site. They generally pick a site that is strictly an affiliate site knowing for sure they did no homework just really spamming me.

Well now I have an SEO biz that I want to start to get off the ground running esp with Jan 1st around the corner.

So does "cold emailing" work? If so do you use a template? I was thinking about trying it with several local companies here to see how they rank based on a few keywords and if they were already on page 1 or not.

I know some here have done well with doing videos but just as a generally question does sending out emails work at least to get a call back or a "im interested" response?

Thanx

Personally, no. Never had a cold email work. An email to someone I have had some type of contact with but not necessarily about the specific service has.

A few times I have closed sales through emails. Not just a cold email, but a sale without ever talking to them lol. Is it efficient? no. Emailing 10, 20, 50 local businesses is not going to do it. You better start picking up the phone!

Cold calling emails do work but the conversions are around 2 to 3 replies per hundred. It's a numbers game so the more you send the more replies you get.

      I wouldn't even say that...

Whenever we initiate a PPC campaign at my firm I start getting emails from SEO people. Frankly I find it infuriating that these guys eat up my PPC budget because they don't want to pick up the phone.

If you've got all my contact info, you know exactly the market that I need to capture, and the best you can do is send me an email, I have no desire to do business with you.

Now I do recognize that being a salesperson myself for many years, and actually working on moving back to it, I prefer to deal with sales people.

I have tested 'cold emailing' to the tune of thousands last year and it really is a very small percentage that open them. Obviously depends who you target.

One of the difficulties can be that maybe most businesses just do not check their email so how can you sell if they dont even see your communication?
