Here's a funny way you can really impress local businesses and close deals.. V Newbie Friendly

This is a really silly and fun little thing that I've done a few times to great effect. I started using it a few weeks ago and loved the reaction it got from local business owners.

A couple of weeks back I met with an accountant and offered to optimise his Google places presence for £600. This would include the important things:

Images
Video
Citations
Reviews

I knew this was a dubious meeting that I might not close that day because before I went he said to me "I've had people out before about this and I decided not to go for it. You can come and I'll listen to what you say but its unlikely I'll say yes"... I was gonna give it a miss but I thought, to hell with it, its been a slow week, I'll give it a shot!

For bait, I created a video the night before and entitled it "The Best Accountants In The Universe". I uploaded it to Youtube, posted it on twitter and it almost immediately hit the no1 spot in Google for that exact keyword term... Guess nobody else is trying to rank for it...

Yes yes, I know, nobody is searching it either. Thats not important for this purpose...

...so, had the meeting, had a good conversation with the business owner in question, discussed optimisation and things were going fairly well. Time to bring out the secret weapon I thought... So I asked him to type in the keyword "The Best Accountants In The Universe" to Google.

BOOM. First result in Google, with thumbnail (which was a picture of his website), you guessed it, the video I created for his business!!!

The owner, who now had a grin on his face like a Cheshire cat, (a rare thing to see on an accountant ;-) was totally blown away and asking how the hell I'd managed it.

I explained to him not to get too excited, that there was no traffic for this keyword. I was merely showing him that I knew my way around Google and pointed out that given a some time, could really increase his traffic and subsequent revenues.

He signed and handed me the cheque there and then.

The total time it took me to create the video and rank that video was 30 minutes and I am in absolutely no doubt that the little video I created played a pivotal role in me closing that deal.

Please use this little method to get your client's attention.

You can use it before you meet with them to secure the meeting, or else if you have the meeting, use it to impress them at the meeting.

Just remember to delete the video once the meeting has taken place and be mindful of the exact title because we cant all have a video for "the best accountant in the universe" at the same time..etc.

Please hit thanks if its useful and hit me up with any questions

Peace x

    Hi Vibe,

What a great approach. I've seen Ed Dale something similar but you've used it to actually gain a client....fair play mate

This is kinda like the idea I had to rank my own SEO site for something non-related like "Cherry Pie Ingredients". I relayed the idea on this forum no one seemed to think it would work saying it was a parlor trick with no value. I guess this is the smart way of doing it.

    Nice post!

Parlor tricks can work but this one was a focused trick. It was related to his business even though no one was searching for it.

Thanks. The plan is to get him a fully fleshed out places page with images video etc and then get him a decent position on the first page for Accountant Glasgow.

I like the fact that you did this..... being upfront, and not bs'ing him. Good job!

Yeah showing the "trick" and then explaining what you can do and why he should not be excited was great.

You impressed him and then told him the reality. So he now knows that you know what you are talking about. Great way to build trust.
