Sorry...for wasting your time! I forgot the "Main Rule" of posting "successes" on "Discussion" Forums;

If you DON'T Spill All Da Beans....you is labeled as either a "Shyster" or a "Braggart full O BS"!

Again...sorry for the Intrusion!

I am VERY EXCITED because I just came from a Pizza Shop where the owner (I caught him last Friday at 8am when he's in his shop mixing dough) not only gave me a Resounding, "YES!"....but a check for $650.... with an Agreement to pay me $500 for the next 3 months.... and forever.... if he wants to continue.

Now...you may be asking, "WHY....would a pizza shop owner want to give me a check for $650 and $500 a month?"

Well....I'm NOT going to give the details here (I am NOT "selling" anything here)....I simply want to share my excitement to provide an example of WHAT IS POSSIBLE when a simple "Idea"....presented to the "Right" niche market....can "bring in bux"!

    Here's what I told the pizza shop owner last Friday morn;

"I have a way for you to get 10 EXTRA PIZZA ORDERS FOR $14.99 EVERY DAY....FROM TOUISTS WHO STAY AT LOCAL MOTELS! Can you handle an extra 10 Pizzas a Day?"

    That's an "extra" $150 a day....x 30 days/mo = $4,500 A MONTH!

(Notice the Psychology here! I used the phrase, "Can You Handle...."! Tell me a business person in business today who CAN'T "handle" a bunch of "extra" orders?)

So....I showed him HOW I could bring him an "Extra 10 Pizza Orders A Day @ $14.99...every day! An "extra" $4,500 a Month....GROSS...for which I would charge him $150 SetUp and $500 a month!

Because of his business getting things ready for the day after T-Day (Friday) ...I told him I'd stop in on Monday morn for his decision!

And....WHALA!....it was a "GO!" with Check Included!

So....I'm off and running on a New ADventure...where my goal the next 30 days.....is to get TWENTY (20) Pizza Shops paying me $500 x mo!....this coming year!

    And....who knows....maybe at the end of next year I could have 100 pizza shops paying me $500 x 100 = $50,000 a Month!

    I could live on that! And....this can come about because of 2 things;
    1) An "idea" that costs less than $100 per year per Pizza Shop
    2) My ability to GO out and "Talk" to Motel Mgrs and Pizza Shop Owners

    Don Alm....excitedly sharing "possibilities"
    Well Don,

since you are not selling anything, neither providing a doable "possibility", as far as I can see, you are either:

    A) Wasting space in cyber space

    B) Bragging and stroking your own ego.

Conclusion; more than likely both A and B. Too bad, I've enjoyed reading your posts but this one strikes an all time low.

"Don Alm, the master at striking his own ego, creating his own midas gold or should I say bs"

    Whatever...

Don, I've enjoyed reading everything you've posted as I'm sure many others have. Hate to say it, but I've even learned a thing or two .

One question though, are you going to let your actions be decided by a minority of people who can't see past the ends of their attitudes?

Or will you continue to share your successes realizing there are a lot of people in the background who read and learn, but don't comment?

Don, I wish you wouldn't jump to the conclusion that a quick on the trigger criticizer represents the majority of the forum.

I was busy working on setting things up to proceed with my implementation of the ideas you shared in the thread you started about Yellow Pages Bonanza, and hadn't checked the offline forum for a few hours.

I recognize your pizza shop strategy from some posts you made a while ago.

Its about the difference between a snake oil salesman with a flair for tasteless flamboyance, insulting to even the "mildly" distinguished mental palate... and of those more considerate marketers who understand that the warrior forum may be a hungry audience, and eager to learn from each others experience...but they arent stupid.

The line you gave is is gold, used by many in sales I figure. I am wondering how you plan to deliver for this pizza shop. You are in off line, so it must involve a web site. But how many of us bring our lap top when we go on vacation? I don't travel on business, but I have never spent the $7.95 per day to hook up my computer, I don't even have a lap top for that matter.

You are going to talk to motel managers. I assume to see about putting coupons in the rooms. I would be wary of suggesting 10 pizzas a day as that would require somewhere around the 10% conversion or maybe higher in many cases. And require you to check each room each day to replace coupons used. Unless you can talk the manager into getting that done for you. And what is in it for the manager? That is the big question I would like to know as I can figure out the rest for myself I think. But that stumps me.

Obviously we would all like to know how this works out for you. I suspect this may be the build up for a WSO. If it works, it would be a good one I suspect.

I used to deliver pizza about twenty years ago. We would often deliver pizza to motels. Mostly cheap motels in my area and not that good for tips. But there was a fellow that lived in a flee bag motel that would order a combination and give me $5 every time. I liked delivering to him for sure.

Methinks Don is talking about his good ole method of providing free TV guides to hotels with pizza deals printed all over. The hotel / motel gets free TV guides to put in the rooms and Don gets advertising space to sell to pizza shops. In much the same way, you can make plastic room keys with ads on the back (maybe that's what Don into... dunno). Wonder what the next frontier is going to be... alarm clocks that sing pizza commercials?.. hmm..

If you've followed Don for any period of time, you know he can sell.

You guys are WAY OVER THINKING THIS.

The strategy was mentioned in a previous post Don has made and one that I actually talked to a local coffee shop owner about.

Basically you talk to a hotel manager and ask them who they recommend locally for food, drinks, entertainment, etc. Then ask if you can put a laminated flyer (or one in a flyer stand) in each room which advertises a mobile directory. You can use a QR code or simply give the mobile website address.

Once the hotel manager says "ok", you just go to the businesses that he/she recommended and explain that your mobile directory will be shown in every room that ABC Hotel has. And ask if they'd like to advertise in the directory and get constant new business from the hotel visitors.

This idea works especially well in torist areas.

The only question I have is what happens if the pizza guy doesn't get 10 extra orders per day? Or does that not really matter because he won't really keep track of it anyway.

I don't see why it is worthwhile calling Don out here... He consistently posts in his unique writing style (which I actually enjoy!) and has never once been trying to sell something. Heck, he doesn't even offer any freebies to try to get people to opt-in to a list.

There are many people here on WF who give outrageous numbers in the amount of deals they do. The numbers that Don gives are actually a much better representation of what you can expect to get.

Will Don get 100 pizza shops paying him $500 a month, like he said his goal was in the original post? Honestly, I doubt it... but to cut him down as some braggart when he is just sharing his goals is not necessary.

As for his specific strategy on getting new customers to a Pizza place, you can probably guess it without him specifically saying so.

My guess is that he is going to work with motels and hotels (like he mentioned) and put coupons for guests to use at the Pizza shops. From his other posts, I wouldn't be surprised if he combined this with a QR Code and had some type of mobile coupon included.

Rather than cut somebody down for not giving out every specific detail of their plan, maybe try to get a little creative and see how you can learn from what he is saying.

    Just a thought...

      Well put Ben.

I read everything Don and other notable warriors say very closely. I do this because he always contributes good content. BTW i did catch his "can you handle..." I know there is more to the storey but when you look at every post on the forum as a possibility crazy ideas will pop up in your brain. If you are constantly looking for the full picture how are you ever going to solve problems for your off line clients?

Million dollar ideas are born every day. Start reading post with an attitude of how can "I" make this work? If you do this every time you read an idea or method you will shock yourself and start writing down ideas for a wso no one has though about or you will go out in the streets and start killin it.

Just in the past week I got an idea for a sms business that no one is doing and how to get brand new businesses for off line. Neither of these ideas were directly part of the post but the post spured the ideas.

I am sorry you deleted the post. It was a valuable share with the community. I am going to go see if there is a cache version and copy it.

You might want to rethink the WSO. Depending on your results, and I hope you will share how this goes for you, this would make a very good WSO. Let us know how it goes, and what your client has to say after the first month.

Yes, I realized that after I posted and copied it from your quote and saved it to my computer. A few things I don't understand. I am no sales man, so I probably will never do it. But it is an awesome idea.

I am really pissed that people blasted his post that was sharing an idea and goals with us. Maybe Don has a thin skin. I would have probably told them to take a hike and if they didn't like it, they didn't have to do it. But they ruined it for those of us that were interested. I would have liked to have known more.

I didn't call him out at all, I just wanted to know what could guarantee that level of orders every single day. If it was something feasible it would probably be a cakewalk to sell, who wouldn't want to trade 500/month for 4500/month?

The reason I asked is that I've seen a number of people say "I'll double your business in 30 days" etc. And I always want to know how they plan on backing it up because having run other businesses if someone could double my business in 30 days it would be life changing and worth a heck of a lot more than a couple hundred bucks a month. Sometimes people reply with saying they'll build a mobile site or something along those lines, while helpful is surely not a guaranteed double in sales.

Well now Mr. "Professional Talker", that was not nice. Personally, I was just a little ticked off that Don just came to brag even though he did insert part of his pitch which btw is very good. I knew since before though so nothing new to me. But to flat out call someone a "liar" is not nice at all.

We are all here to share and learn, that's it. And yes, I am looking forward to further postings by Don. However they may show up, I might learn something. I didn't ask him to spill all DA BEANS, as he expressed himself but to brag about how much money and from whom but not what, that got the best of me.

And yes, his idea might have to do with his TV channel guides that he prints for free for the hotel owners with his ads that he sold on them. Today, they probably includes a QR code to a pizza place, maybe another 4-5 QR codes. A Chinese, A BBQ place, an American diner or what have you. Each of these biz paying him for x amount of rooms x a percentage for possible orders. Expand that to 5-10 hotels with a minimum of 100 rooms each times x$$$ and there's your formula.

I could go on and on guessing about different versions. The value in his contribution is that

      A-Tourists are hungry

B-Restaurants are willing to pay for whatever exposure and

      C-Don has a great pitch.

It does not make him a liar, Eva

There's a lot of great people on here who give good REALISTIC advice and insight and don alm isn't one of them. WAKE THE HECK UP.
well that was very funny indeed
but if you take a look at what posts you have liked, there is actually one by midasman so he might be overacting but his ideas are not bad at all and are totally doable with some kind of spin on them (I am yet to try them tho).

          good luck to you all!

p.s. to add to this, the post that you've liked talks about 'intro lines' when doing face to face meetings and honestly, if I was a business owner and someone had balls to say those things to me, I would be all ears and listen what they have to say. So midasman is not talking BS and you know that. For people like me, just starting out, you have no idea how helpful that is and gives me a lot of courage and motivates me to take action. Sometimes that is all you need and midasman always contributed to the forum in such way.

As the person who exposed Local/"Evie" for being a scam artist, I must say there are quite a few differences between "Evie" and Don.

First and foremost, Evie was making wildly optimistic posts about all this success he/she had for the sole purpose of making it seem easy to sell websites, which he happened to be selling for an absurd price. To my knowledge, Don has never sold a WSO or any other product. He hasn't even given away anything to build a list either.

Evie was clearly trying to scam people and take their money. (And ended up committing check/wire fraud after the fact by withdrawing additional funds from people's accounts months later.) To me this is much worse than just sharing ideas, no matter how wild they are.

It all comes down to intentions for me. If somebody wants to share ideas and inflate their success just to make themselves feel good, I say who cares, as long as the ideas are good. (Which Don's are!) It's when they start making wild claims to rip you off and/or scam you that I start getting concerned.

"AP" was before my time, so I'm not as familiar with that situation. My whole point of responding to this is so that people don't start putting Don in the same category of actual scam artists. To the best of my knowledge he is not one and shouldn't be called out as one. (Not saying anybody called him a scam artist, btw! Although John, what got into you tonight? LOL...)

It doesn't change the rules and what you wrote can be considered 'flaming'.

So far I see mixed reactions to Don. I don't know him and he has posted some good stuff on the forum, but your accusations violate the rules, plain and simple.

          Thanks,

I feel the love in this thread.

I don't care if Don sold two, or two hundred clients last week. This was a pretty good idea. I am sorry the nay sayers ran him off before I could get some additional information about it as there is still some things I am not clear on.

You are only upset because the thread title is "$500/mo from Pizza Shops!" which lead you to believe that their was going to be a suggestion on what to do to make $500/mo from pizza shops. Instead what you found when you openened your present was a story of how a guy claimed to have made some money while claiming to have sold something ( who knows what or how) to pizza shops.

I still don't understand the the reason of the original post but the OP claims to have been excited about this little victory and wanted to share.

No, I am disappointed because this sounded like a good idea as far as it went, but there are details that I don't understand, and now no way to find out what they are.

Don sold a couple of merchants as I remember. Not such a big deal I would think. Then he was fantasizing about maybe selling 100. I do that all the time, except I don't publish it to the forum. Don was sharing his goals with us.

A few have stated that Don is a prevaricator. I don't know Don. This is the first time I have been in the offline forum. And I am reading some very interesting stuff too. Including this thread. I think it could be very doable.

Sorry if I sounded very rude.

I can see Warrior Bens point about "local" actually scamming people. I guess I just wanted to get the point across that don alm is not making the kind of money he's claiming and you shouldn't be convinced that his ideas are going to give you the results he claims.

agonce, yes I probably did thank don alm at one point, when I was new here and didn't know any better. He probably did post good advice, he clearly has been in sales a long time. After hearing ridiculous story after even more ridiculous story/claims, seeing him banned in other forums and his posts even wiped out, etc... I have simply realized he's a big storyteller.

Don was probably a decent sales guy decades ago, but most of his techniques are just really outdated and will not work consistently today. Go find a big CEO in the sauna and saddle up to him with your sales pitch and see what happens.

Show up to 3 local restaurants, storm in and demand to talk with the owner and tell him you're here to sell him a $1000 plus $500 per month super-duper laminated menu with a qr code attached in a hotel somewhere and see what happens too.

a quick note about Don Alm

I know Don Alm personally and he was one of the very first offline ventures I got involved in. this was way back.

    faxbux

i built a nice fax ad business before it became a federal crime to send faxes. I launched another business that I sold it was called menufax which was similiar except with opted in fax lists

    did very well also

finally sick of all the silliness of these draconian U.S. laws I decided to vacate and relocated to Costa Rica which I spent the last 7 years starting up a brick and mortar biz and adsense biz.

the brick and mortar biz I sold..

and also sold my very first network of sites of adsense that was generating excellent 6 figures a month.

now I am back ready to launch my new adventure.

the difference is you have to get your hands dirty and go out and actually see real people which most do NOT like to do.

Don alm has more experience in the real world selling than 95% of the people on these internet forums..

btw john Durham really knows his stuff also

anyway my real world experience with Dons programs.

now that I am out of the wonderful U.S. of A. I am thinking about going back to the fax business just out of spite LOL

Something I learned a LONG time ago was that smaller people tend to dwell on peoples limitations. Great people dwell on peoples strengths (while being aware of others limitations.)

Maybe something to keep in mind here?

In brainstorming sessions, the primary rule is NO critiquing of ideas. Why? Any idea, even a bad one, can lead to some exciting new areas that hadn't been thought of.

Killing off the inflow of ideas by critiques seems pretty ... uh ... not well thought out.

    From Don's original post:

    'I could live on that! And....this can come about because of 2 things;
    1) An "idea" that costs less than $100 per year per Pizza Shop
    2) My ability to GO out and "Talk" to Motel Mgrs and Pizza Shop Owners'

Ideas and abilities (coupled with taking action), that is what it is all about.

Here is the thing with some of you people backing him up and not backing him up. It is the internet. I have noticed many people saying they make 6 figures, are just here to boost their fabricated ego. Even though this is the offline marketing forum, many of us have come from internet marketing background, at some point in time. That being said, claims are exactly that, only claims. Maybe he tells the truth, maybe he doesn't. Maybe he posts good stuff without being able to really back it up.

Don't judge the quality of what people post by the numbers they mention inside. I'm sure anyone with a hint of discernment can walk into a few threads on this board that other people think are gold, knowing that it is a large pile of excrement.

I don't know the deal with this guy, and I really don't care much. What I do know, is the reason we love warriorforum, is because of the value added here. The help and the shared experiences. It isn't about bragging, ego, or being self absorbent. It's about helping.

Nothing wrong with a little bragging thread every now and then, but it is a bit pointless since talk is cheap. Someone that has been here since 09 should know the deal. On the outside looking in, maybe he was leading in to a WSO. Because I sure as hell know anyone doing real sales is not going to be as sensitive to edit their post because of a few people with doubts. Maybe I'm wrong though

Hey NaySayers! Ya! Yuze guys!...who've probably done, not much in yer bizness lives, thus far. Listen up! There ARE "certain" people who CAN do "certain" things....and others who can't! (Reminds me of the Chinese Acrobat Troup who come to our County Fair every year)

It's "nice" to see that a "NaySayer" (Mr Durham) gets more "Thank Yous" from "NaySaying"! Guess this tells me "what this Place" contains.

      I just scanned thru the above posts and...along with the NaySayers and those who like to take advantage of the topic to Hype their product (Pizza Cards via Marty's Pizza Card Reports)....one comment struck me that prompted me to make a comment;

"I used to deliver pizza about twenty years ago. We would often deliver pizza to motels. Mostly cheap motels in my area and not that good for tips. But there was a fellow that lived in a flee bag motel that would order a combination and give me $5 every time. I liked delivering to him for sure."

Because I truly enjoy "getting out amongst my prospects" (small business owners) and..."keeping my eyes and ears OPEN....I discovered, a few yrs ago that...."Pizza Shops sell MOST of their pizzas to "Medium to Lower Class" motels!

Wow! This ONE fact....has made me lots of do-re-me! So....what I've done with most of the projects I've created is to..."Put Myself INTO the Body of a Typical Target Market!"

      Now....this might seem impossible to some of you folks but...let me set the stage;

Imagine for a minute....that you are an "average" person in THIS day and Age with all the "Electronic Gadgets" being touted on every other tv commercial. You PROBABLY have some kind of Mobile Device....and you ESPECIALLY want to bring that Mobile Device with you...as you travel to "Grandma's House" or whereever you take a trip.

Or....it's just you an the wifee wanting to get away for a day or 2. Whatever the reason for checking INTO a Motel (Not the Hilton or Chez Paul etc)....just a Motel 6, Super 8, or even lower than those.

You go in....ask their rates....decide to register....the clerk gives you a room key....you go back OUT to your car...grab your baggage....go to your room....open the door....set your baggage down....GO POTTY!.... then, BEFORE you UNpack....you pick up the TV Remote and CHECK THE TV SET (to see what the screen looks like....and to see it your favorite Channel is ON)

When you discover that the TV Channels are DIFFERENT on this set than at home....your first thought is to, Pick Up the Phone and Ask What Channel is X on, or...is there a "TV Channel Guide" in the room?"

However....when you picked up the TV Remote in one of MY rooms..... you SEE the words "TV CHANNEL GUIDE"....so....you don't need to bother the Front Desk or spend YOUR Time phoning....it's RIGHT THERE....in front of you!

Whala! Well....for the last 7 yrs....on the TV Channel Guide in your room (in the Motels where I provided MY TV Channel Guides) was a "Photo of a Pizza"...and a phone number to call to have a Pizza delivered to your room!

However....fast forward to the year 2011....where almost EVERYONE checking into, even the Medium to Lower Class Motels....HAS a Mobile Device.

      You...as a Motel Guest checking in....go thru the same routine;
      1) Bring Baggage to room
      2) Go Potty
      3) Pick up TV Remote to "check TV Set & Reception"
      4) Pick up TV Channel Guide when you discover your Favorite Channels are different than at home.

      Only NOW....along with a Full Color Photo of a "Mouth-Watering Pizza" is a funny looking "square thing" with a note that says;

"Scan This Code with your Mobile Device!"

And....up comes the Name of the Pizza Shop and their ENTIRE MENU....right there on their Phone!

And....to make ordering the FOOD they want DELIVERED TO YOUR ROOM....EASY....is a Button that says "Click Here to Call"!

Whala! Thus....if YOU were the Owner of a Pizza Shop who's been receiving Orders from MY....TV Channel Guides.....for 6 or 7 years....would YOU be interested in PAYING ME....an EXTRA AMOUNT each month to have your ENTIRE MENU available to....

...PEOPLE WHO CHECK INTO MOTELS....LOOKING FOR FOOD....BECAUSE THEY ARE HUNGRY AND DO NOT BRING FOOD WITH THEM?

Granted....YOU do NOT have a "Track-Record" with Motels OR...Pizza Shop Owners...as I do. However....(being bragodocious here) if I were to go into a Motel and Pizza Shop in YOUR town....I....could find 3 or 4 Motels AND....ONE PIZZA SHOP that I could get to PAY ME....for MY Program!

Thus....I am sorry....I will NOT show you what my new TV Channel Guides look like or....what I'm charging or how I'm presenting My Rates. YOU will have to do your own "Testing"...as I did....!

So....there's MOST of my program! Let the NaySayers have At It!

      Don Alm....REAL PERSON....REAL salesguy....REALLY doing IT!

Scuse me folks! Got some MORE excitement to report.

I just came from a meeting with a Pizzeria owner who RENEWED my 1-Month Trial for my TV Channel Guides.

He reported 196 Orders at an average of $15ea...for the 28 days in Feb.
(He knows because he used a Special Coupon with a Special Price....for MY Program only so that when he looked on his Register....he saw the Special Price....196 times!)

This is from 3, 30 room Motels that cater "Lower Class Travelers".

90 rooms in 28 days bring in 196 x $15 = $2,940 GROSS business. Not bad for a $300 "Investment"! TEN TIMES RETURN ON INVESTMENT!

Proves once again....my TV Channel Guide program works in "EL-Cheapo motels....where guests would rather eat IN than go out.

I've posted a photo below of a Sample of one of my Guides. The UPGraded Guides have a QR CODE....that...when scanned in...brings up a Mobile website with the ENTIRE MENU (with Photos, Click-To-Call button AND a Map)

Again....I'm NOT selling anything here OR....getting ready for a WSO. Just EXCITED about how a Simple Idea....presented to the RIGHT person can bring MONEY RESULTS!

      Enjoy!
