Im all about helping small business owners but seriously if $200 is too much to invest then they cant even be in business or dont want to be in business. I mean how much can they pay if $200 is too much:confused:.

I recently spoke with a jeweler whose store is not in an upscale center (not the slums either). He was such a downer! Talked about people coming in by the dozens with no money so buying ads wouldn't be worth it. I told him that it was obvious he was targeting the wrong neighborhoods for his marketing efforts and that I could show him how to get a better class of clientele coming into his store. All of a sudden, he was very interested in setting the appointment. The biggest key to selling these is just having a lot of appointments. I sold an ad today where they barely speak English, had to have a customer interpret part of the conversation. They loved it and were ready to write the check (in full) even before the interpretation. See a lot of people with this and you will make sales.

Yes!!!! I got my samples from bob, yesterday, spent most of last night meditating through all info, woke up this morning, got on the road AND: Sold 3 spots already! One is a Barbershop, 1 ad, AND............he also buys gold, 1 ad, i sold him 2 spaces as a one time deal $600 for both! ad 3.......................Pizzeria! hahahaha, $495! Now heres what i did,' I got the pitch down packed, i will not really mention much here, for if you have read all there was to read buying the WSO, then its ALL YOU NEED MATIES! I also have perfected a give me a deposit now, 50% and the 50% i;ll pick up when i have the proof of your ad, works like a charm! One thing i will tell you, HYPE the quality of the card, its something that creates a WOW effect to the business owner your trying to close, keep emphasizing the quality and value of 10K homes mailboxes receiving this wonderful EYECATCHING 9x12 flyer, because after all, that is our product we do sell in the end! BOB! thanks my bro, i also have 11 people to re-visit tomorrow, by this friday i will have my first one completed, also i am doing 2 areas at the same time, so this week i am focusing on the one area, next week the other! Follow all bob has to offer in his WSO and get out there, keep at it DO NOT GIVE UP! Business owners NEED US! I also, wanna give this advice: Key pointer, when you walk in to an establishment, the introduction, i found out today, makes or breaks your end result, Say hi, shake their hand firm, real firm, DO NOT BREAK EYE CONTACT! So bottom line, i made in my pocket today $550, $550 to collect, and thats only 3 ads, (really 2 clients) go get them mates! they are waiting! thanks bob! PS: Forgot to add something! Make business cards, how many people asked me today for one, and i didnt have i felt half armed, to be honest, i will be making some tonight from my printer at home temporarily, but make sure all who embark on this journey, carry business cards, its essential! PPS: My wife just brought me a surprise lol, i received the card reader for my android to accept credit cards today from Square Inc. things are progressing along...............!!!!!! Now, when closing a deal, for the deposit i accept 1. cash 2. check 3. credit card! |

Just finished reading this thread. All I can say is: WOW I cannot wait to try this out. I am a business student so a lot of the stuff I am learning in my classes can be implemented into this. My goal is to have everything designed and ready to go before finals, and as soon as my last final is over to start selling. If I do not have $10,000 in my pocket by the end of the summer from this, shame on me! |

This is a magnificent post! The offline method that you are stating does in fact work. I am a firm believer in using offline and online methods to increase my business potential. Another offline method you can use is by utilizing message boards. (the kinds you see when you are on the highway) |

Hey everyone!! Great thread! I'm almost ready to start selling. I have one question though. Did anyone incorporate their business? Is it necessary to do so before selling? If not what do you do when someone wants to pay you in a check? I figure no one will want to write a check made out to me personally? Any help would be great! Thank you! |

Rakinitin: Open a bank account as DBA (Doing Business As) with your business name and just be a self-employed person without incorporating a business right now. Have a biz card and people will write you a check to your DBA for 50% down. Have a fill in blanks (printed out page form with your DBA name) as receipt for the deposit. Then take by a "paid in full" printed receipt when they pay the balance. |

Not read through the thread (which looks great) but adding something here ,forgive me if its already been raised. Additional idea to add value and longevity to this. Put shortcode numbers on each add, ie text pizzadeals to 86444 , text spadeals to 86444 etc etc , this builds an SMS list for each business via you and allows you to track the responses each ad recieves so allowing you to upsell the next publication knowing theyve had XXX success from the last one . Also see if some businesses will provide prizes else make it cash prizes, the home based recipients of the ad sheet have to text in to your own shortcode to be entered into the contests which are drawn maybe every month (or whatever is neccesary to ensure they all keep the ad sheet for a number of months and someplace handy because the rule is that when their number is drawn and they are phoned, they have say 30 seconds to get the ad sheet and answer a relevant question about it ie what is the 10th word on the 2nd line of the Pizza ad , tell us and they win, dont tell us and we ring someone else for the prize . Just these two simple ideas enable each advertiser to build their own SMS list which you can run and develop for them (££££) , you also build your own SMS list of consumers which Im sure you can find multiple good uses for (££££) and the ad sheets are more likely to be held onto and be somewhere quick to get at so they people have a chance of winning the prizes rather than being stored away or binned after a few days and of course you can charge a premium rate for the shortcode /SMS option . |

Hey Dave. I have designed some "A4 " giant mailers for UK ... Which are not that much smaller but do fit UK letter boxes. (8 1/4" X 9 3/4") I am also a graphic designer and designed all the ads myself take a look at an example: ( May be changing this layout to exactly match "Bobs" original) mail me at: otm-club(at)ntlworld(dot)com

I may have missed this in the 18 pages, but did he mention where to get the mock up done? I would like to avoid having my local printing place do it as I know several of the people who work there and they would steal the concept and run with it. I know where I can get the mass printing done but not the original mock up. Can anyone fill me in? Do you just tell the concept and sell them on that? I would imagine having a real mock up would go along towards closing the sale.

But as someone has already said, there is so much work to do initially with this business your local printers will have enough on their hands already just doing their own work! But Just to be safe, if yo like, for your short run prints ...mock ups and proofs etc you could just look for printers a few towns away??

You also have to register your business with the State Dept Of Revenue Office (but you are not charged if you shut down your business and or don't make any income) P.S--Make sure you register with both because they work together in tandem and if you register with one and not the other....it won't be pretty! Just so you know... You may have to get a Federal E.I.N number from the I.R.S  The government gotta get theirs, you know! You also have to register with your city or town because they want to know who's doing business, what kind of business and how you plan to run it (usually if it's not a commercial business with foot traffic, they don't hassle you too much) so they'll know what taxes, licenses, inspections and fee's to assess you and your business with! Okay...and now off to the bank for that business account!

If you are creating an S Corp or LLC you will have to check your local laws. Do that anyway. You should be able to call a small business development office in your area who can walk you through it.

That was 6 days ago. 1 reply.... ONE. ...and that was a 'possibly interested'. Quite a bit of work in coming up with the project, putting the site together, walking the street for those 3 hours, filming all the individual videos, editing them all together, uploading them, sending them out in individual emails. Fail. I obviously wasn't good enough at selling it. Shame, but glad I done it - at least I tried

Wow, it just goes to show you... No matter how swept up we are in the whole Social Media, internet-based sales world, offline sales are still effective and lucrative. Who knew?!!! Congrats Bob, and thanks for sharing and walking us through the entire business model. You could just as easily have packaged this information up into a WSO and sold it to us for some vast sum... |

@ scottish You need to call everyone that you sent an email to and create a sense of urgency and value. Sense that you are getting too caught up in the technology and trying to WOW them with all the qr code, mobile landing page, directory stuff which is cool but UNNECESSARY right now. Just get in and you can do all that other stuff later. Drop the price if you have to the first time, make sure they know its a one time deal, once they see results getting the full amount wont be a problem next time AND then you may want to add a "fancy" tech benefit to make them feel better about the higher rate. Get the money, its there and they WANT to give it to you! Do you want to receive it? |

That's a cool idea. I used to sell ads to local business too, but I'd put the ads on a "homework folder". I would then print the folders (with the ads on them) and give them to the local elementary schools for free.

Well I have been reading through this thread over the last couple of days as I take action to get my own business started. So far I have gotten my EIN and spoke with my bank. I will get the rest of that as well as my business cards and shirts tommorrow. I have spoken with 3 local business were I know the owners and all of them said yes right off. One in particular has spoken with a few of her friends. (That one was ready to spend $500 to send out 1000 regular post cards). I showed her a copy of the mock-up that I printed out and she was amazed. This will work but you must take action. Thank you Bob. |

Those look great!! I've been following this thread, and I'm very excited to start taking action on this as I just lost my full time job last week. Gregg, I see that you used Indesign for this layout. I have the software but I'm not very familiar with it. Do you have any info you are willing to share about setting up your layout? Any help will be appreciated - Thanks! |
