Hi, I hope I'm not boring you, but I really have a burning issue...

My brother is an architect and now he's struggling a bit to get new projects. My quick question is: could telemarketing help him? I know, architecture is a particular field. You cannot ask people "Do you intend to build a new house one of these days?" But I was wondering if there is another kind of approach that would allow him land some potential clients. If anyone of you have experience in this field (or in a related one) please help me with some ideas. Thank you!

Bogdan

I don't know architecture, but here are a couple of ideas that could be applied to most service businesses:

1)Network and talk to some larger firms. They are bound to get leads for projects that are too small for them to take on. See if they would be willing to pass the leads and maybe your brother could pay a lead fee if he closes. It will take time to build, but could be good source ofleads for the long term.
    2) Start networking with smaller contractors. Offer to pay them commission for referrals or jointly bid.

I'm sure if you ping John Durham on the forum here, he will have some sound counsel for you. It's what he does and loves to do. Never met a man so passionate about telemarketing in my life! He's a very giving guy too.

Telemarketing for architecture firms definitely could work. You probably wouldn't cold call because as you mentioned its not something that most of the population uses on a regular basis *but* for those who show interest it could work.

I'd guess, the most important things is gathering leads.

Localvseo's idea is definitely workable and probably a good place to start. You could also partner with mortgage brokers/bank loan reps, contractors and other professionals one typically uses when designing a structure.

You can also do your own lead generation. A squeeze page leading to a free report or better yet a free consulting session.

A quick question....I'm wondering if your brother designs totally new structures, additions, or both?

Localvseo had great ideas. Also joining homebuilders, contractors, general business and chamber-like associations or even property owners and neighborhood groups gets the list of members so you can target prospects. connect with banks, commercial or residential construction mortgage companies, real estate agents who market commercial or residential properties and land. Developers whether commercial or residential may have projects or leads as well.

A report on "how to choose an architect" might be a good one to offer related businesses like banks, accountants, realtors, and contractors because they could either reuse in their communications or give to clients.

If there are government agencies loaning money for private development, that might be a good connection to make as well.

Marhamat is right about John Dunham, from what I've seen in his posts, he's a master telemarketer and would know if it would work or not.

Maybe there's a radio or television show that could use a guest to talk about why to use and how to choose an architect. If you have a horror story example of what happened when a person did not use an architect, that's an even better intro for your expertise.

    Cheers to your success!

Telemarketing can definitely help an architectural firm. Cold calling for leads can be his first step to acquiring new and possible long-term clients. It does require a bit of expertise to effectively gather enough quality leads, a good script, and a calling list of targeted prospects.
