Love seeing people revert back to old school print marketing

As a graphic designer, I am happy to see that there are still ways to launch a successful marketing campaign WITHOUT the reliance of a computer. Like this fellow for instance, who has hand-crafted and perfected a great way to generate income by old fashioned gorilla warfare with a hulking piece of direct mail.

People HAVE TO at least glance at it based on the size alone, and this is a great way to support local or online printing to keep them in business in an otherwise dying industry. News and magazine publications are drying up left and right...so I'm happy to support this guy and am beside myself at the thought of doing this myself once I get everything in order. In this congested world of network/affiliate/MLM/internet marketing its nice to see that old school techniques still apply and can generate a nice residual income!

You rock Bob Ross.....happy trees for life! (although some of those happy trees will undoubtedly be cut down for our purposes)

Ditto that. Companies and mail order businesses still use print marketing... and some are so turned off by the idea of internet marketing that they'd rather do print marketing 100%. I guess whatever floats their boat.

I have to agree. It's funny when you hear people say print advertising is dead. I always wonder what planet these people are on because from where I'm sitting its very much alive.

Not dead, but certainly on life support in many cases. As a Philly native, I was sad to see the Philadelphia Inquirer (one of the city's oldest newspapers) go up for auction last year. Lots of pubs are closing up or downsizing and doing online articles now......so I am all about supporting the print world!

Well, what about taking it to the next level and use recycled paper and non-toxic ink. Have no idea how much more expensive that would make your campaign but if you choose to go that route, your footprint of destruction on this planet would be reduced.

    Just a thought, Eva

Today offline is a great way to break thru the clutter. Internet is a fabulous thing, but the amount of information is exhausting. There was a study done (sorry, can't find the link right now) saying many people consume fewer publications today than they did before internet. There's just too much to choose from. When everyone is going online, there's plenty of room for off liners.

A $60 to $100 ultra simple flyer still remains my biggest "in" to an offline business. I put a QR on all of them which starts a long conversation with the owner about modern marketing methods which leads to many more services. It helps me become more than just their webmaster.

I have no agenda but to help those in the same situation. This I feel will pay the bills.

Print marketing is still a powerful tool for lead generation.

With email boxes clogged with junk and spam, even genius marketers have gone back to including direct mail.

Out of sight. Out of mind.

A card in the hand is worth two emails in the box.
