Hi all

I want to find out if having tons of comments on your site is a good thing or not. Some are relevant to my site, others are not.

  • I think it does matter, in my opinion, but I like to use facebook comments to show google that I am using social media.

But, yes, I think that having interaction on your site is a good thing, but not sure if it helps with seo or anything.

I would just keep the spam comments out and make sure they are relevant. I also like to answer any questions in the comments section as well for more interaction.
  • Kill off all the spam comments.

If they are not directly related to your content, delete them because they are just backlinks for someone else and don't do anything for you. Also, many people (myself included) feel that spam comments like those devalue the site we're looking at. If you allow junk, how good can your content be?

Think of your site as something precious to be protected!

    • Jason is absolutely correct. If you don't take care to project a quality site with quality information and comments, you will damage your image.

Your reputation is your most valuable business asset. Don't allow it to be tarnished in any way.

And yes, irrelevant comments waste my valuable reading time and damage your image in my eyes.

  • You are the master of your own destiny and your own sites. Irrelevant and spammy comments does not add any value to you rankings or reputation, so I also strongly suggest that you remove them.
  • Genuine, relevant comments are good. Especially if they add value by providing helpful questions about and answers to your readers. Spam comments are pretty much worthless if they don't add value.
