Any thoughts on the best piece of software out there to build mobile sites. I'm asking on this forum because I don't want to be bombarded with WSO pitches...just want to see what anyone here may be using and what they think of it.

Thanks!

    Hi David,

This is actually a very popular question, you should search the forum for mobile CMS vs doing it yourself. because thats basically what it comes down to.

    You can either:

A)use a mobile site builder content management and hosting platform

    or

B)Build it from the ground up yourself using wordpress or other tools

There are pro's and cons to both. Some will tell you that you should build the sites yourself and manage the hosting your self, because CMS's could go out of business and leave you high and try. others will tell you that its a huge waste of time and money building sites from the ground up, and its better to rapidly deploy mobile sites and get as many sold as you can, as opposed to 1 or 2 big sites here and there.

These are not the only items up for debate. Fact remains, regardless of which direction you go, you can charge your customers anywhere from $350 - $1500 depending on the complexity of your sites!

I personally have my own mobile website builder platform business so im slightly biased to the side of builder platforms, there are some mobile site developers in the forums who are biased to building sites yourself as well. It really comes down to what your business strategy is going to be

    Hope this helps.

If your looking for ideas about site builders here is a list (EVEN OF MY COMPETITORS )

I'm not a "techie" but....a few weeks ago I took Quentin Brown's Mobile Program and "locked myself in my home office for a weekend" (Sat & Sun solid) and....figured it out to where I now have "Mobile Site Directories" with Members.

Will R also has a pretty good program here and he also responds to requests for help.

I use Hostgator for my server and once you understand Quentin's "Script" and how and where to insert it and upload with FTP....you can do "anything" Mobile.

Don Alm....sales guy who learned how to become a "Mobile Techie"

I've just purchased WP Mobile Pro, which is a Wordpress based theme with an inbuilt mobile simulator, so you can instantly see what your design and pages look like. Been playing around with it for a few days, and it's pretty cool. It's very easy to use and customize. I recommend it.

I just purchased WillR's WSO and it seems pretty thorough. There are so many plans and products on the market that I'm sure I'll use several just as I use different HTML editors for different projects.

I just used the WF search box feature to look for "Quentin", and among other items/threads that came up, I saw this one.

Heading back to the search results now to check out some other stuff related to mobile websites I missed (or missed me ) earlier.

            Cheers and happy hunting !!

I like the general direction of what members Quentin and WillR are doing. I haven't purchased either's script because I have difficulty with WordPress and its tinker-toy structure and functionality. But for mobile, it just might work. It's about 1996 right now on the mobile web.

I bought Quentins course, I must say its very detailed and flexible. It gives you a good starting point from where you can get more inventive and creative as you learn the basics. Lots of good resources in the members area too.

Good luck with whichever way you go.
