Hey offliners!

What business have you approached so far?

I've approached a fast food, and now I'm thinking of approaching a local gym

What about you?

I dont bother with fast food. Useless to me.

I don't target a specific niche, I go for everyone, whether it is a new start up business or a corporation. It can be a funeral home, church, a huge distribution company, doesn't matter to me, I have no preference.

I target dentists, plumbers, accountants, and a few other niches. It's all about testing out different strategies, etc - and taking action!

    Best of luck!

I've had the most SEO success with online retail (clothing). It's especially easy to rank for popular new products and brands.

At the very beginning we created some good connections with the right people: they helped us to expand our market and create a Brand. Then we started some creative work for local mom and pop's, etc etc - the usual.

Right now we're targeting bigger brands and different markets.

People make good money selling to the rich. But the rich got rich selling to the masses.

You'll have more success if you approach businesses that...

    1. Can afford to pay you well -- trades, insurance agents
    2. Already have an advertising/marketing budget -- full page print ads
    3. Ideally already do SOME online marketing -- like Adwords

    Hope that helps!

I have an idea of approaching a store that sells and rents wedding dresses. There's around 300 exact monthly searches for "wedding dresses *city*", where *city* is the city I live in, and wedding dresses sell for around $1k What do you think?

      It's easy competition also.

I have been selling a lot of small restaurant (cafe's, etc) and massage sites lately and I don't ever offer seo with them. That is a upsell only after the sale because it can be too confusing and can cause negative emotions for those that were scammed in the past, and hurt what would have been a straight forward sale.

You need to have a great looking demo site ready for them and always add their company name to the logo before they see it. I have done it both ways and whipping up a nice looking logo with their company name makes a real difference in how many sales you will make.
