What to call my marketing website?

Hi Guys,

I am pretty new to offline marketing, but have been suffering far too much from info overload, so now its time to get my act together and actually find some clients and earn some money.

My dilemma:

What do I use for my domain URL? Is it best to go for a generic name such as WebDesign+City, City+Marketing or even City+Seo or should I use a prettier name such as RhinoWebDesign (only used as an example Ryan ) or something along those lines?

I know that City+SEO returns over 880 local searches with low competition, but do i choose that over a nicer sounding domain?

Thanks in advance guys,

Rob

I know that City+SEO returns over 880 local searches with low competition

Sounds like a good start ....

It seems strange though that you're asking this question when you should already know the answer ... I mean you're selling SEO ....

      Hi Papadon,

I have not stepped foot outside of the trenches as yet (hence too much information overload), but now i feel it is time to get moving.

And I know what you and many others are thinking:

"How can someone start offering services that they barely know how to deliver?". Trust me, it worries the life out of me, but when does the learning stop and the action begin? It's time to actually "do" instead of procrastinating and holding myself back.

As for me "already knowing the answer, as I am selling SEO", thats a tricky one. I know enough to get local sites ranked and if anything tougher comes along, if I do not have the skills (right now) then I will outsource it....heck, most WSO's say any newbie can do this - just outsource it!! Also, I guess it is my way of asking for reassurance - "am I doing this right" sort of thing.

I am starting with friends and local business owners that I know and hopefully build from there.

Just go for something that is functional and has a potential buying word in it. Webdesignservice+City would be an example of what I mean.

I believe city may not the keyword you want to target.
I prefer you use prettier name , RhinoWebDesign . While web design will be your keyword and rhino maybe your brand name.
When you too focus on keyword but you do not forget that your domain do need easy to remember as well.

You can choose SEOCITY as your domain name.

    Hi Rob

Earlier just keyword in domain was enough to rank high, post panda other factors have come in.

My suggestion is that if you can get keyword in domain good, else go for a catchy domain name that is easy to remember.

I would suggest that your first URL to be something that will be easily remembered by your clients and prospects, like the name of your company. After that has been established, you can purchase other URLs that will go by your preferred webdesign+city format but will still direct to your main site. Might cost you more but the results are better in my opinion.
