[POLL] which one is better?

a few weeks ago I have posted a contest on a discussion board for small business owners: the prize was a free web redesign service (free of charge).
The winner was a french virtual assistant, this is her current website:
Accueil de votre télésecrétaire (it's in french)

I worked on the new design and delivered it to a week later:
Marie-Ange Rottino - Sécrétaire indépendante & polyvalente à Nice

The thing is that she was not very excited about the new design and thinks that her website is better than mine!!

so what do you think guys? which design do you think may convert better and attract more customers?

What specifics did she give you about what she liked & didn't like?

They look similar to me, though the original is looking more like a basic Wordpress site and the middle is white.

You have picked a fancy writing font for the headers. Any reaction to this?

I think she did n't liked the one page design, she told me that she need more time to think it over and get used to the new design.

There's one sure-fire way to test the result:

Do prospective clients call her because of the new website?

Tracking the performance of the previous version would help for comparison, of course.

yours has a more professional look but
the colors in hers bring more life to the website

I think the header and the white background on
looks gives hers a slight edge with that being said

maybe you should look at these areas header and colors

I can't read french but I like her original better.

It seems more "real" while yours looks like any number of professional sites done on wordpress. Nothing in yours stands out while on hers the little cartoon and the odd color choices stand out. It isn't as professional but it draws me in.

I think the original since it looks more realistic. Just my opinion.

    Bonjour,

Have you taken the site down? I'm just getting a 404 message...

Yeah, I get the same 404 message for yours.

Her site more or less sucks though. As the ever all knowing kaniganj suggests... which one is converting better?!

Well, hers, since it's the only one I can see, probably converts as well as a Jehovah on a Catholics doorstep...

Put together a proper direct response website with contact form right up in front, phone number right in their face.. you know the game.

If it's not there already, put Analytics into her site so she can how many visitors it's getting vs how many phone calls/inquiries she's receiving.

Of course, you did build the site for free, so I wouldn't go too far above and beyond for her. It's obviously probably just a hit to the ego more then anything!

    Man O Man.

Can you do some SEO or something to siphon off traffic to your site for her?

And put an offer on there so that they know to mention the inquiry is because of your site?

Then, when prospects call her, they can say, "I love your new website!"?

Your design is a significant upgrade from what she had. It looks much more professional. I have been developing websites for years.

Sometimes the less people pay, the less they appreciate the work of others.

The only thing I would change in yours, is that I would use the same transition over and over for the slide show. But that may be my own personal preference.

Run an AB test with analytics on it. Pretty simple to tell which converts. I would not have personally gone for a dark scheme but that is my design beliefs only. Always test.

I have no agenda but to help those in the same situation. This I feel will pay the bills.
