Anyone Make A Living Just Selling SMS To Businesses?

Im getting ready to offer my existing offline clients sms campaigns next week. Id like to be able to get away from the print stuff that we do because its really a giant pain in the @$$ Im curious if anyone is making a living just off of selling SMS to businesses.

Im also curious if anyone is willing to share their pricing strategy. Businesses in my area are very cheap so im trying to what everyone else is charging.

Thanks

I'm not making a living from SMS, but I do have a nice system set up using Twilio's Openvbx for SMS and voice .

I have been charging a $149 set up and 99 bucks per month for up to 500 subscribers and $149 per month up to 1000. I have one client getting close to 1000 so I''ll have to figure pricing going forward. Probably $50 per 500 subs. after 1000. The profit margin is nice at this price point without them biz owner breaking the bank.

There have been WSOs saying you can easily get $500/mo doing sms for local businesses, but from my experience, there is no way businesses will pay that. They don't even know what it is generally so getting them to easily fork over $500/mo is really stretching it. Many WSOs tend to inflate reality though.

If you do set up a business with SMS, just make sure your profit margin is 4-10X your cost and you'll be fine.
