Negative Thought keeps looping

Hi everyone, one of my goal for this year is to establish an offline consultant business. Initially, I was thinking to start by helping local business owner to create or redesign their FB page so that it can be a tool for them to make money.

However, after doing some research, I started to have some negative thinkings. I afraid I can't help my customer to make profit from the FB pages that I created. Maybe this is because of my background. I never make a cent from FB page and therefore, I don't believe it can help my customer. Maybe I need some positive story to cheer myself up.

I was thinking to sell this FB page concept as a new marketing channel for my customers. This allows them have a list of facebook page followers they can promote just like what we did with our online mailing list. However, it takes a lot of hard works, time and money to expand the list and I afraid my customers will not accept it. Will people feel weird to invest so much of money and time into a tool where we don't know the outcome?

Maybe I should start a page and really make some real cash from it to build my confidence. Any positive input for me? Thanks

You should try and do that first by your self and then make a good example out of it, and keep your thinking positive. And then you can prove to your customer that you did it so can they.

A friend of mine also gave this advice to me yesterday. You are quite right, I should do something to raise up my confidence level. Thanks for your advice

    Hi Finandom,

If you really want to give a business value, then I would start with going after the ones who haven't claimed their Google Places Page. Google Places can increase their business dramatically all by itself.

Brush up on Google Places optimization and strategies. I think there is a good course out there a lot of IM'ers are promoting. It's called Maps Marketing Blueprint and I don't think it's an unreasonable price if I can remember, but don't quote me.

If you do want to go the FB route, an option would be to build a general keyword targeted page for a business industry, lets say a dentist, so it would be "Your City" Dentist or Dentist in "Your City", Do some keyword research to see what people are looking for. Once you have your keyword optimized FB page, put up some general infor about the industry and then start generating likes from friends and others around the web/city. Once you a pretty good following, then you can offer to sell it to a local Dentist or lease it to them for a monthly fee. If you lease it then, if/when they stop paying you can pick it up and take it to the Dentist down the street.

Stick in there! Keep on keepin' on!

Just a few thoughts. Hope it helps!

Know what its like to feel despondent, for whatever reason.

When I feel like that I make myself understand that it is a passing phase, and not forever. Just in 'that' thinking, helps me realize that I'm OK.

Doesn't stop me feeling horrid, just let's me access the fact that it won't be forever.

Hope that can assist or help you in some way.

    Keep on keeping on

    Regards

I think I should stay here longer and listen to some good advice and success stories to achieve the positive thinking mode.

You should try offering a facebook like page to several local businesses for free and I'll tell you why.

    1) you can meet with clients without the fear of them saying ''this wont work or it's too much money''
    2) it will also give you a chance to practice your sales pitch with real clients, I mean they have nothing to lose of it's free and it you gives you a chance to make mistakes during your pitch and learn from them before you meet with paying clients.
    3) Once you have created the Facebook like page and they start to see some results they will be very happy with the free service you offered and will see that you are honest and reliable and then you can start to upsell them on other services you offer such as mobile marketing for example, web design, seo.

Even if they don't want any other services you can ask them for a testimonial for the great work you did on their facebook page and then you can use these testimonials as proof when you go and sell them to paying customers.

I implement this is my online marketing business and have had huge success and have built some very profitable relationships with customers that started out on a free deal.

    Just my thoughts, good luck!

Thanks for the idea. However, I think I can't do this because I am outsourcing the page designing works. This cost me some money and I can't give it out free. Tight in budget...

If your concept is unproven then it would be a good idea to prove it yourself first and also to proof read your text.

I agree with an earlier post.
One thing I just tried was just to call a business ( maybe one you know) just ask for help.
Explain you are just starting out and need some practice. Most people are SO willing to help. Practice, they will see results, you will be more confident, move onwards....
    Best of luck.
    Karen.
