Question about setting up lead generation sites for offline biz's...

I hope this isn't a dumb question...

How do you handle the "in between time" (limbo?) when you DO have the lead gen page(s) set up + ONLINE, but you don't (yet) have the client to whom to SEND the leads? During that time, WHERE to the leads go? From the point of view of the innocent visitor to the site(s), aren't the sites "fake" until the sites truly lead to a real biz, as "advertised?"

Please advise.

Thanks!

PS: On the other hand, if the lead gen sites are NOT put online "in advance" (of having a client to send the leads to), then how do you prove to the potential client that the lead gen page truly "works?" Seems like a catch 22 -- no?

    Lead Gen ideas:

    Buy a list.

    Call people.

Set up SEO, landing pages and opt-in forms so they can give you their email addresses in exchange for something.

Make youtube videos targeted to pick up interested prospects. Make it clickable to send them through to your landing page.

Email people and link them back.

    Offer free webinars.

Search this forum using the Search function for more ideas.

If you know people exist who have an urgent problem that you can solve (fat people who are ashamed of themselves, and badly desire an easy way to lose weight), then you're fine.

You could pick a business, call them up, tell them what you are doing and would like to send them the leads no charge so they can sample them. Then follow up to see if they want to sign a deal. If not, then call their competition.

I've also been reading on this and from what I have seen this is what's highly recommended. Get a phone number from somewhere cheap and put it on the site. Also have an email form. On the phone just have a message saying thanks for calling your URL name and someone will be returning call within so many hours (usually 24-72) then call a business up that isn't on googles first page and tell them what you do. Tell them you just received a lead from the site you'd like to pass on for free to show them what the site can bring. Then talk to them about how only one business can have the site and get the leads from it and you are giving them first dibs. So either they take it right then or hold off call the lead and hopefully close it. If they close the lead you more then likely will have them sin up if the price is right. If not call the next business with the next lead. Just make sure to do follow ups with the businesses after you pass the lead on.
