About to receive referrals for my rent-a-site model. What is a suitable 'special discount'?

Hi guys,

I believe I am on to something here. Just had a phone call and I will be having my business promoted within another group of businesses in a specific niche.

The caller has asked if I can offer a 'special discount' for the referrals that they send to me.

I am doing the rent a site model (straight advertising, I sent them more callers via the site).

I was thinking of perhaps a 10% discount for all people they refer to me? My monthly rates I said are from $297-$497, so the discount will vary for different price points - probably more fair this way?

What do you guys think?

A reply to a PM I got for this thread - posting it in case someone has a similar Q:

Q: 1. I have several top 10 sites for city+keyword. How did you or how would you suggest to get advertisers for this? My few attempts have failed. Im sure im not putting enough into renting them.. Were yours #1 in google or first page only?

I have not done too much in terms of prospecting myself. I had been lazy for several month and then recently took a bit of action (which wasn't even that much).

I just ended up writing a letter to each of the service providers in the area for where I already had a site ranking #1 under the Google Places.

I got a call back a couple of days later and signed up my second client. I only have two right now. Just recently I have now boosted the site to be #1, but above the Google Places so it is seeing some good traffic.

My philosophy is not about where I am on Google. Even if I am #1, but if the phone isn't ringing for my client then I don't like it. I want their phone to ring. If I could get it ringing while the site was on page 2, I would still be happy. I focus on results, not rankings.

That being said, I would personally not attempt to call or try and rent it out until it was #1. That is, if I am taking the approach of 'rank before you rent'.

For now I am going to try and rent them out before I even have them made, as I think that is more efficient.

    2. How did you get your sites to #1? I use alot of fiverr.com gigs and social bookmarking/press releases. Sure could use your ideas.

    I got my sites to #1 by using Backlinksgenie.com, Lindexed.com and Dripable.com

All of these services are promoted in another IM forum and I signed up with them all and I am very happy.

    Hope this helps.
