Local site for my biz

As some of you may know by reading my posts i own a carpet cleaning biz. Since I am getting older I am going to back out of the main biz - too hard on the body. I will however still do some specialty work. i was thinking of building several sites for - pet odor removal - carpet repair - specialty spot cleaning - etc. Here is my Q:
Would I be better building one generic site like rugmancarpetdotcom and then build separate pages for each service? I really need them to be found in my area - maybe a 25 mile radius or so.
I plan on sending mailers to property managers - hotels etc about these services.

    I'd say it all depends on how you want people to find you online.

    If you're planning to send out mailers to people that will just direct them to your website, then I think one website that sells all the services you offer would be sufficient.

    If there are people online searching for those individual services, it may be easier to get an individual site ranked for each one of those services, than to use one website for them all.

    I'm not as experienced with SEO as some of the others here though, so maybe someone more experienced will let you know what they think.

    I give you credit. I have cleaned carpets, and it sucks. (My brother added it on to his company) Hard work for low pay because in my area it is super competitive. I could do a different job for twice as much in half the time.
    Anyway, I would build the main site RugManCarpet.com and build separate pages for each service. Then build 2.0 sites specific to those services pointing to those specific pages. Like build a bunch of web 2.0 sites about pet odor removal and point those sites to your pet odor removal page.
    By web 2.0 I mean: Articles, audio, ppt, video, social media, docs, etc.
    Then build links to the 2.0 sites and just have the 2.0 sites link to the service you are promoting, and the homepage.
    Also make sure you set up your GP, Yahoo, Bing, YP, etc

    I would build one site on wordpress with carpetrepair + city name(area name) dot com.

    Add the other pages named specifically with pet odor removal, spot cleaning, etc. Write original content for each page that makes sense to your prospect.

    Get familiar with installing WP on a hosting platform if you don't already know. Google "fantastico WP install video".

    Go to settings - General and write your title - City name + Carpet Repair and Spot Cleaning Service

    Go to Permalinks in Settings: Change permalinks to custom structure, copy and paste this; /%category%/%postname%/

    Place the word "carpetcleaning"(one word) in the Category base under Permalinks -Optional Settings.

    Now add xml sitemap plugin. Build sitemap.

    Go to Categories and change the "uncategorized" category to carpet services.

    Change original "Hello World" Post to a relevant title and write a brief summary(200-300 words) about what you do and how you can help solve your prospects carpet issues.

    Publish it(update it).

    That will give you a good start.

    Thanks - all good stuff. I am pretty good with WP. Here is the thing - I am in a small rural area so I have to rank for my surrounding towns as well. Maybe my entire county as well as parts of NJ that are near me.
