Getting started providing offline services! - Advice required.

Hey Warriors,

So, I currently my time is split between running Apollo articles and managing my affiliate sites.

However I'm now looking to make the switch this year to providing offline services such as:

Web design, SEO & Social Media.

Ideally, I want eventually outsource each step.

So, I have a huge amount of questions right now inc.:

What do I do now?

How do I find clients?

What services should I provide?

What services do you offer as an upsell?

What rates should I charge? (Ideally, I'd have some sort of recurring fee set up)

Are there any tips you can offer me on any stage?

If you were starting again now, what would you do differently?

Thanks everyone!

Sam

    It's all up to you!

What do YOU want to offer? What do YOU feel uncomfortable about getting into?

You can make money with anything. Pet Rocks. Chia Pets. I mean, if people will buy that garbage in droves...

This forum has a Search function, and using it will pull up threads on how to find clients, how to outsource, and many other questions which have been answered before.

I don't want to be mean. Let me share what your post sounds like to me:

"I don't know what I'm getting into, and I haven't done any of my own research. Please give me my entire business model, and tell me what is profitable and what isn't, and what pitfalls you've painfully encountered so I can avoid them. Thanks."

My advice is to start using the Search function and finding answers to your questions, one at a time. Later, when you have more specific questions, post those.

    I agree with Jason -

What has worked for me? I was in your position 60+ days ago, with out a clue, I bought two WSO's from same creator that complimented each other, I put into action, I bugged the product creators daily.

Check out Lee and AJ's new WSO (or any of their WSO's).

They helped me kick start my business, but it was their guidance and my "action taking" that made it happen.

Okay, well I think I'm gonna go down the SEO & web design route for local businesses.

What fee's would you recommend I charge for SEO and Web design? A rough ball park figure would be most helpful.

    Many thanks,

    Sam

Whatever your client thinks your time is worth: to brand them ,create top of the mind awareness, bring in new customers, increase their revenues/sales/etc.

Example: I have 1 client who pays me $445 a month for 1 keyword.

I have another client who pays me $500 for 5 keywords.

both of these clients rank for more keywords than they pay me for, as an "over deliver" tactic, both of these clients have also referred me to 3 people total.

Can you do video? Offline business owner's see it as some kind of magic when I show them an Animoto style video highlighting one of their services.
Do you take a camera to their location? Do you have any videos I can see, please pm me.

    Fees?!

You're not selling mobile sites or desktop sites and SEO!!

You're selling a steady stream of qualified inbound leads for your prospects.

Sell with a set price and you'll be leaving money on the table, lots of money, for the rest of your life.

Join at least one local business networking group, ideally a structured leads group such as BNI (Business Networking International.)

Attend regularly. Give value and you shall receive value.

Don't expect overnight miracles. It can take six months or more for solid networking to truly work for your business.

    Good luck!

You can find clients through a local business MeetUp group, a local chambers of commerce, LinkedIn, Facebook, Manta and the Yellowpages.
    What services should I provide?
It all depends on how you want to go about it. Are you offering solutions for businesses to get more clients or customers? If so, sell different solutions that gives them the idea they are missing out or losing customers and this is how X (a mobile website or an SEO squeeze page are examples) can solve that.
What services do you offer as an upsell?
You can show them all the services you provide where all the potential customer has to do is choose. I personally would keep it simple by offering direct mail marketing, an SEO squeeze page, a mobile website, and SMS and where they save money by picking all 4.

It is all up to you, but don't sell your service too cheap since you want to establish a perceived value of good quality. You can also research what companies in your area are charging for these solutions. And the recurring fee makes sense since an ongoing residual income builds a relationship with your clients and a bit more financial security rather than a one time wham, bam, thank you mam.
