Google Places listing?

I did a phone verification yesterday for a clients Google Places listing. I then setup the account properly. The 10 pics still aren't showing up live on the listing. There are showing up in the back office. Normally, how long before these are live?

It varies - it can be up to a week or two in my experience.

How can I get Google to assist in a problem with a Google Places listing?

We have an edited Google Places listing that has been approved several weeks ago and we submitted it. But it's not being seen in search results; rather, old listings are. We have tried to reach Google through the forums (asking questions) and also through their 'report a problem' features....not a word...not even sure they view/see these reported problems...I really want to update my Google Places listing, we've done everything by the book...who can help us?

Yep - Google is weird on this stuff. I submitted a place for Google Places about a month ago and it just showed up on Places last week. From my understanding it is a hit and miss thing. Sometimes you just have to be patient.

Google Local is also fighting two indexing bugs right now for initial launches - I've confirmed this with an excellent source here in Austin and now have had several email exchanges with Google Local staff. Its creating multiple/ghost listings:

This appears to be causing a lot of additional manual work on Google's part.

I am glad and not glad to hear this. My listing has dropped completely off my category and city but if you search for company name and city it is still there. Man this will drive you nuts. It was showing last month and then around 2 weeks ago.... gone.

I have experienced the ghost listing bug first had with two clients pages already. Also I have had one profile go from pending verification to... missing. It's kind of frustrating to have to deal with and explain to clients but I am sure that they are doing a lot of work on GP profiles and also how they are displaying in the SERPS.

Google Places is a very unreliable pain in the rear, you definitely need patience. If it weren't so profitable, I'd never deal with it.

While you're waiting, I would suggest tackling other aspects of the optimization (it may even help with it updating) - work on citations, videos, video marketing, Google Plus page, Facebook, Twitter account, Foursquare account, etc...

I had a listing that just wasn't updating and Google staff told me 4-6 weeks!! yikes... well I got busy with the above and within 2 weeks the updates were showing up. Perhaps my work had something to do with it.

google places worked well for me, then they invoked the rules about no duplicate phone numbers or two businesses in one account etc and I had to start all again. Not really sure of how valuable it is unless you just cover one city - but then you preclude all of the nation wide traffic that could buy things via your site?

I got a new client with a brand new website from nowhere on the map to the first page in less than 2 weeks, and now we're less than a month in and he's in the 3rd "C" listing position.

Strange thing is that all his pictures were showing up just fine and then a week ago they disappeared. You think this is also a part of Google's weirdness and it should come back on its own with a little time?
