Google Places - How To Check If Images/Videos Are Optimized In A Listing?

Maybe I've missed this somewhere, but does anyone know how to check and see if the images and/or videos are optimized in a Google Places listing? I want to be able to see what kw are listed, and how many times each kw is listed in each image/video.

Thanks for the help!

Images: Do a right click "Save-As" on the image. You don't have to save the image, but by doing so you will see what the image is named. If it's a kw, or something else.

Click the video to see where it goes. Then read the title, and the description. Below the description should be tags. See what those are.

Well I right clicked on a few images that I optimized and they all said, "unnamed" even though I know there are kw in there. Any idea why it would say that? I've checked numerous other images on various other "7 box" listings and the images all say, "unnamed" as well.

Any other ideas of what to do?

I'm afraid, when it comes to images, you have hit "Urban Legend Land." Here is what happens to images on Google Places:

    1. When you upload your image, it is copied to Google cloud. The filename is converted to a psuedorandom string.

    2. The file is compressed. EXIF and IPTC metadata is preserved. If you are using a tool like gpicsync - Automatically geocode pictures from your camera and a GPS track log. - Google Project Hosting to optimize your site images for localized search, you have already geocoded your images.

FYI: Google MAY use geotagging in images, but publicly they say they do not. Usually, "do not" means "do not" and "currently evaluating", "experimenting", and "may use them in the future" means that they do.

    3. Places images are not including in any other search algorithm nor are they indexed by Google or any other search engine. If you look at the Google maps subdomain robots.txt file, you will see that the /maps is disallowed. One thing is very certain, Google scrupulously follows their own robots files as very strict policy.

As for videos - these are linked from Youtube, standard Youtube optimization rules apply.

Net-net? The presence of images - and from the work I've done with photographers Sites pages, nice big fat juicy images - definitely benefits. EXIF/IPTC meta data might help slightly. All else is phrenology.
