Should I Bypass the techies?

I'm about to put some DM pieces out to a niche of professional offices offering to fix their web security issues.

Part of the pitch is to show that I have ALREADY discovered 4 holes in their system.

Part of the DM piece reads as follows:

Because what I do is proprietary, I can't talk to your technical people or webmaster and will only be able to talk to you. Please contact me by e-mail at ....

I'm trying to bypass the inhouse techies or the design agency who, usually being a bunch of 'prima donnas', have a 'not invented here' attitude and are overly protective of their work.

It's just that I'm not too happy about that statement above and wondered whether its not too 'pushy'. (Having said that all IM DM stuff seems pushy!!!!!!)

Let me know what you think

Never worry if something is too pushy, when it comes to copy.

Test and see how well it converts.

This might work. You may be sent down to see the techies eventually, when it comes to implementation...but at the start you do want to see a decision maker. The only way to find out if this approach will work is to try it out.

If and when you DO get sent down to linoleumville, the techies will almost assuredly have never seen your letter.

Ok..this is just my opinion and not to be taken as anything but that. If I were to receive that letter I would toss it in the trash.

Now I don't know how people react in the UK to that kind of language, but to me it's right there with:

There's 2,000,000,0000.00 in the bank in Yougottabe****tinmeland and the Prince can't leave the country with it.

It reads like the direct mail version of a Paypal phishing email.

Speaking for myself and as a business owner, I don't like any kind of communication that gives me a piece of a story.

Wouldn't you have to deal with their people eventually to fix the security holes or are you expecting them to just hand you the login info and never question what you are doing?
