I am sending emails to business owners, how to reduce the chance of being ended up in spam folder

Hello, guys:

I am plan to offer offline services to business owners and I plan do so via email. Email the business owners about my service. I set up one site for it (www.mysite.com)and set up one email with this site: my.name@mysite.com. I tested it and i found majority of the outgoing site ended up in spam folder in outlook. The successful rate is so low.

Just want to know if anyone can share some tips on how to reduce the chance of it. Any suggestion is greatly appreciated

thanks

Believe it or not, if you use a gmail/hotmail personal account and advertise your website underneath your signature, you will improve your open rates drastically.

You can set up SMTP (simple mail transfer protocol) within your cpanel and send it through gmail servers which should get you better delivery rates.

If you are using wordpress for your site and you are sending emails from there here is a plugin which should help you out

WordPress › Configure SMTP « WordPress Plugins

        Hi again....

I would use a gmail personal account advertising the website in the signature.

Now, in your body, you can advertise your offering but don't come across hard selling. Basically, you want to have a very casual tone in your email. Mention a little something about their business to personalize it. Then you mention the core problem that your service will ultimately solve:

"I noticed that your website is not showing up on Google"

        or

"I tried looking at your website on my smartphone but you don't have a mobile version of your site"

Afterwards, to make it more enticing, think about offering something of value for free so that you can upsell them on other services once they are your customer.

Finally, your subject line of your email is crucial so you will have to test different ones until you find one yielding you good results.

I think you can try this as it is something I use. Try to use words like important, serving, urgent and other important words or much better will be the names of the person in the subject.

That's what I was thinking and I am doing. I hear from business owners (even my dad who sells antique pottery...) that they get emails for SEO/webdesign etc everyday. Lots of competition in this area, but it does work. I got my first webdesign and seo client this way, but I've gotten lots more by calling them.
      Good Luck.

I'd use Gmail over Hotmail. I've had and heard of WAY too many problems with Hotmail.

Also, try not to use words like "make money" in your e-mail or that will land you in the spam folder.

        Good luck!

how about using sendblaster2? do a google search for sendblaster... that may help.

But it depends on your source of where the emails are coming from.

I agree with Kate, I delete almost all emails from people I do not recognize. Doesn't matter if it goes in the spam folder or not for me.

What I can suggest you is to use an external SMTP server first like smtp.com
second - write something like below before you go for your advertisement content
You are receiving this mail because you subscribed to my list , etc...
third use a unsubscribe link down to your email.

Linking in your email also a matter which most be from one source only like below
    http://www.yahoo.com/url?redirect=1
    http://www.yahoo.com/url?redirect=3
    etc...

There are other things that you can find out by some researches...
