Best Sources for Marketing Statistics?

Hey Gang,

Anyone know what sites / resources are best for finding semi-recent marketing statistics to provide to our business clients?

I'm looking for stuff like:

* Current stats on the effectiveness of traditional advertising (TV, radio, newspaper etc.)

* Trends in audience responses / engagement with traditional advertising

* Stats that show how much more effective marketing via social media (or the Internet in general is) etc.

Not having much luck on Google (finding sources that I'd want to reference as a source...not random Squidoo pages with no citations)

Anyone know of such resources?

I made a thread asking for this as well since I have been basically making up my own statistics. LOL.

People have mobile stats but nothing for anything else it seems. I tried nielson and I tried a few others but have found NOTHING that fits what I need.

Also... I know you know what you're doing, but I would be careful with this. The last thing you want is someone to drop their traditional marketing and put the pressure on you. When that happens, you begin to see the value in the old school tactics.

Heh, no worries there. I'm very much about core marketing fundamentals.

I'm more so looking to basically say "Hey, if you think you can rely on JUST placing ads in a newspaper to fix your declining profits...here's research that shows why that's probably not going to happen."

I think any true marketing strategy requires multiple angles and not an "all eggs in one basket" approach...but I need to back up such a claim with actual data.

    Ya, I hear ya.

I often SEE people SAYING statistics on their websites / sales pages...but they never actually reference where these stats are coming from...which I don't like (or plan) to do without being able to actually quote who did the study.

I took a look at MarketingSherpa but I don't quite think it's what I'm looking for either.

    Bleh.

I basically just want to be able to reference an actual research study that proves traditional advertising is getting less and less effective (at least in terms of ROI) compared to online strategies such as Video Marketing etc.

Mobile marketing isn't even a blip on the radar in my initial conversations with a business...more of an add-on solution/upsell down the road.

I can't believe I missed one of the most obvious ones, I've found a ton of great stats so far on here:

Nielsen | What People Watch | What People Buy

For example this presentation on social media trends:
    Nielsen: Social Media Report

Comescore also has great information located inside their whitepapers area:
    http://www.comscore.com/Press_Events...ns_Whitepapers

and also their datamine section is golden:

    Enjoy,

PS - AdAge and Clickz are great too, still going through the others
