Company name advice please!

Hi there i am just about to start developing my offline conulting biz plan and the first thing i need to decide is if i am going to keep my company name?

MCB E-Marketing LTD

I registered this a while back when i was unsure which path i was going to take so wanted to keep it generic.

Or should i change it to something more catchy?

The thing thats troubling me is if this would be memorable?
Or have enough impact on my clients?
Also for my URL which would be mcbemarketing.com? Readability
(mcb is my initials) so also for branding purposes personal/company is it worth changing for when i come to sell the company?

If anyone could provide me some advise on this matter it would be greatly appreciated

This seems hard to remember MCB E-Marketing LTD

I might go look for some keywords and incorporate that in a new catchy name.

    I agree with Alberto.
Marketing is good, easy to spell, type and remember. Combine marketing with another keyword that ranks well on Google AdWords. Try some longtail keywords that include marketing if you want to stick to that.

I definitely think you should consider changing it to something easier to remember, read, say - especially if you think you might sell it in the future.

You don't necessarily have to use keywords in your name since it could sound artificial or awkward. You're building a brand. For SEO, you'd put the keywords in your tags anyway. Remember that you're naming it for people, not search engines.

Think about a name that conveys the benefits and doesn't have words that offline business people won't understand. For example, I wouldn't use the word SEO in the name unless you're marketing to people who know what that is.

Benefits could be things like "profit" or "strategic" or "growth" etc

A name that conveys a little of what you do would be great too. Eg, a quick search just came up with a company called Strategic Web Marketing (obviously taken). You'll have to think about what offline businesses are using as search terms.

Hope that helps. Wish I could think of a name for you!

Thanks for your replies guys but im not really doing it for keywords or SEO as such.

Sharyn your answer was what i was looking for and has just confirmed what i already suspected that it does matter enough to go through the hassle.
and funnily enough im looking at synonyms for growth and startegy right now trying to brainstorm something up before i go out for dinner.
so far the best iv come up with is PIVOTAL WISDOM LTD?

Try brainstorming with people who are "offline". So much of our terminology is second-nature. We understand it, but it's like a foreign language to everyone else. For instance, I'm trying not to use the word PLR as much anymore since there are a lot of people who can use that kind of content who look at me like I'm speaking Swahili when I say it.

Enjoy your dinner. Maybe your dining companions can help you out. Whoever thinks up the best name gets to pick up the bill?

I would go with something that will describe what you do in simple words since offline business are usually new to online marketing their business.

Something catchy and short like "Offlinebiz Online"

        Cheers,

        David

I think you should keep it simple. Your website : www.mcb.org ( com and net already taken)
The M can be from "marketing" etc.

    Use your imagination !

Another direction might be "helping you get online" or alike.

Perhaps something related to plugging in or other synonyms for going online.

Something connected to a basic operation that offline people understand, like turning on the lights or something business focused like getting a new neon sign, relating billboard advertising to the huge potential available online

I agree with Sharyn though, do some offline brainstorming with some friends

Don't you think MCBWebConsulting would be appropriate?

If your covering web/internet consulting and showing local businesses how to market their wares more effectively online, then using the suffix web consulting may seem appropriate.

      Hope this helps!

Hi, I suggest you pick a short name and easy to remember. Something like mcb consulting, mcb corp, mcb partner etc

Company name is not that much important for people to remember it...
Make something shorter for your service name & introduce yourself with that.

Like I'm MCB E-Marketing LTD& I offer E-marketing solutions. so your company name goes behind your service name.
