Is it ok to refer to an individual client as a company in a consulting agreement?
Can anyone who is familiar with this matter give light to this?

thank you..

  • I'm not a lawyer, but why not just refer to them as the 'client' and not a company if they're not a company?
  • Honestly I word the contract/agreement as client either way that way you didn't need more than one form.

    • I've been writing contracts since the 80's. The suggestion here to use "client" will suit you perfectly. You can simply refer to yourself as "consultant."
  • I prefer to use the business name or individuals name because it's more personal and makes them feel as though they specifically are protected by the contract clauses. Meaning when they see their name written in with the terms they feel better in my opinion than seeing "client"

so I would use the persons name and in parenthesis if applicable put the company they are working with/for. That would be applicable if they are an independent contractor for a company you could put NAME (AFLAC) or whatever.

But I am not a lawyer so I am not claiming this is more or less legally sound.
  • awesome... thanks guys!
  • Here is exactly how our contract reads:

This Consultant Services Agreement (the “Agreement”) is made and entered into on DATE OF SIGNING, by and between CLIENTS LEGAL COMPANY NAME (“Client”) and YOUR BUSINESS NAME (“Consultant”) (collectively referred to as the “Parties”).

    Hope that helps!
