I don't think this works in the UK based on my own experience on our own version called Gumtree, but from what I've seen with Craigslist in the US, this will be very useful for some offliners here who actually try it.

I use these on a consistent basis for hiring and my conversions increased 5x opposed to the standard text ads that most employers are using.

The image ad links to an online form that applicants fill out, submit and the info goes straight to the inbox. I went from around 2-5 optins per day to around 10-15 once I started using these image ads.

@daddyoh: You can use any type of graphics software to produce your images. I use photoshop. Save your image then either upload it onto your server or you can use free sites like photo bucket. Then whenever you go to CL to make your post just insert the url where you want the user to be taken to (in my case, it's the application form I created) and then you want to insert the image path url.

Example would be something like this. You would just paste this code into CL:

<a href="http://the site you want the user to be directed to">
<img src="http://the image path url where your image is being hosted.png"/></a>

That's it.

nice info..i have used this in the past for marketing and for staff hiring and it has worked great..Really increases the conversions.

One thing that worked well for me the other day was putting our facebook like button on our CL ad. I also put a bunch of other social proof on the ad too.

Thats one thing I do NOT see a lot of CL posters doing. They make flyers like these, but with no social proof on them. Like the "flyer" I made was about 75% text, than 25% images. But all those images I used added social proof to the ad.

We landed a commerical remodeling job to remodel 4 bathrooms from that ad. So its definitely doing its job.

I do NOT believe we would have got that job w/out the social proof. Really look at people posting on CL, how many people are adding testimonies? Or facebook like buttons with thousands of likes? Or bbb logos? Or angies list awards? Or certifications?

Like the ad above is good, but think how much better it would be with a few testimonials underneath.

This stuff definitely matters people! =]

ps. Don't refuse to do it just because you have social proof on your website and think thats enough. Its not.
