How to get on the first page for something as tough as the wedding industry?

Hey warriors,

This is my first thread. Wanted to save it for when I really needed help. Im getting hitched soon!! And in the vain of that famous Chris Negro thread, wanted to do some bartering with a wedding venue, photographer and limo company (three tough industries in Orlando). Competition looks very fierce and I'm not sure if its even plausible to attempt to rank. Never tried in such a hard industry

What steps do you suggest I take to look at the competitions website/ places page and see how hard it would be to knock them out? ANy help would be great.

If you think those are tough keywords, I have over 52 million sites competing for the first page of Google. I'm one of the top ten. If you want to know how pm me.

Its only tough when you chase after all the same high comp keywords that everyone else is chasing that gets spit out from the Google Adword Keyword Tool.

Instead focus on local search phrases. What potential customers type into google when looking for a local business online.

You can check out a blog post I did while back covering this topic: Google Local Search Guide – Searching for Local Keywords | Offline RockStar Academy

Thanks Dr. Dan.!! I got your course and made use of it. Built three websites and got them all ranked using your methods. But at some point I still gotta learn how to get better and tackle the more competitive terms as well.

There are lots of factors in order to rank first. Keyword competition is just one of them. Other things that matters is your domain age etc... Have you tried looking at the activity of your competitors? Check who is the top 10 ranking in your keyword and check out their details like do they use the keyword in their title? description? etc... see in what sites they are linking in and try to link on those sites too, something like that. You can also check their domain age. The more the site aged, the more reliable it become in the eye of Google.

      I see what your saying.

Say for instance my keyword is "wedding venues in miami" Using seo quake I see that alot of the main page websites are only PR 2. But the top 2 under Places have been around since 96.

Also none of them have an exact domain, nor have the exact keyword in title or description etc..

Only 900 pages have the exact keyword "allintitle"; and only 97 have it "allinurl"

Is there anything i should assess to tell how hard it would be?
