Whoo hoo. I'm getting free advertising in a local magazine!!

In a recent thread I talked about how I spoke to a local magazine rep and how I'm creating free QR Codes for their advertisers to get my foot in the business owner's doors.

Well they offered me one free ad in their magazine since I was so helpful to them. They also talked about using QR Codes for their magazine.

So I met with the general manager this morning and we talked about making their current magazine mobile site and putting a QR Code on the cover. For now it will simply have 3 of the main articles and then a .pdf link to their full magazine.

At first she was talking about having me set it up and then she'd update it each month with the new articles. Then as we continued talking, she was saying how busy she was and how hard it is to get everything done.

Light bulb goes off in my head.

I said, "Well, I can lighten up your load a bit by maintaining the mobile site for you and then you won't have to worry about it. How about we do a trade? I'll maintain the site for a free ad in your magazine every month."

She thought about it for a couple of seconds and said "Sure, we can do that".

Bingo. I'll now have a free ad in a magazine every momth that gets read by about 60,000 people...many who are business owners.

Here's a thread for the first ad that I used which I had to create very quickly. Not much response and no sign ups for the free report. But at least now with a free ad every month, I can test different designs and offers till I get one that works
