OK, I know someone who has access to alot of bars and nights clubs and is wondering what products are there besides booze and food that can be sold to these types of businesses.

I know my little side gig I have going (Point of Banking bankcard terminals) work pretty good and there's always websites, but does anyone have any ideas of other products and services that could be sold to bars / nightclubs???

SMS to promote drink, food & act specials to signups.

Mobile sites & SEO for people to easily find the club/restaurant/bar based on keyword searches for mobile devices specifically. People who search on mobile devices WANT what they're searching for, right now.

Direct mail...postcards...coupons...QR codes...keep looking in this forum for ideas.

      Is this a trick question?

Everything inside a bar -or any other business for that matter, has been sold/bought.

Chairs, lights, tables, mirrors, glasses, uniforms, pictures on the walls, the filing cabinets in the back office etc etc.

Noooooooo....... Fabricated followers are pointless for anything other than social proof, follow relevant local business and other clubs etc they will follow you back, usually around 50 followers is enough to satisfy and get things started.

Any creative type of marketing services to help them get, retain and engage customers will always get there attention.

I've got a few bars that they wanted targeted direct mailing done within a 5 mile radius of their business. They pay me a generous monthly fee and I do a different mailing campaign for them each month/quarter - full outsourced. That has led me to get their SEO business, Google Places and Facebook services. We are now starting a mobile loyalty program.

I managed pubs for 6 years and was astounded at the number times this little old lady came into the female toilets to stock up the make-up vending machine, especially the lip gloss. Look into vending machines.

I recently sold a local nightclub a social media campaign, twitter, Facebook, google places, linked in, google+.

Exactly how I just said, you follow people, they follow back, their folders see that they follow you and also follow you, you can get 50 followers in a day easily with this method.

If you're struggling, send a few tweets to other local bars, clubs and casually mention a special offer or event, this will get you a few.

OK, that's interesting... unfortunately, more and more bars, clubs, and companies in general are getting more employees that are into the whole social networking thing and have little use for hiring someone to do this for them.

What other products / services can be sold to bars and nightclubs?

Id focus on facebook pages and mobile websites.

Ive done a fair few nightclubs and although i've built websites for them, most of their traffic and interest is developed through facebook.

Mobile is a no brainer but you need to use it to promote offers that are a bit quirky and can help to bring in more people on the night.

Clubs in general though only gain in popularity if theres key people that believe its a cool place to go - hence facebook can help alot with that.

Anything else you try to sell them is pointless and theyll most likely see right through it. Everyone in the nightclub scene is fairly savvy to marketing, those guys know how to hustle.

Would any of those happen to be sports bars? We've got a new smartphone product designed to help sports bars to attract and retain customers during games and throughout a sports season, which we're currently testing for interest in the Denver area. We've tested successfully during NFL games, of course half the trick has been getting ahold of the owner to talk to in the first place, so I guess we have the opposite problem..

Original poster, you and your friend have a lot to learn about business. Your instincts are pretty bad too. You can't just go around looking for needs and trying to meet them. It's a lot more complicated than that.

First of all, you can't sell anything to bars, trust me on this. Especially in my market. In fact, my local marketing area is the worst place to sell anything. I suggest you target some other business category, as far away from here as possible.

I disagree completely with your statement that "there's always websites." If you learn anything on this forum, learn this right now: Websites are useless to businesses and bars are just a type of business. Websites are only good for helping to bring in customers and who needs that kind of nuisance? The internet is a dying fad, anyway. Everyone is using phones now.

Point of sales systems for credit card transactions are the biggest scam ever foisted upon the food and beverage industry. Only 65% of a typical restaurant bar's transactions are on plastic now. Screw all that. Insist on old fashioned paper money and let customers walk out in the dark to find an ATM when they need more. They'll be back. Accepting credit and debit cards is for suckers.

Don't get me started on how disinterested bar owners can be about using a modern point of sale system to help them count, track, compare and project their sales and inventory. Those are just expensive gizmos for nancy-boys who don't understand how to manage risk.

It's a lot more thrilling to wait for the beer truck on Friday morning and just take a wild guess at how much you need for the weekend.

I used to have the luxury of having 30,000sq feet of space at my disposal AKA a night club. The BIGGEST thing you can bring them????

          wait for it

          wait for it

          Day time business!

Most clubs have a video set up, they obviously have sound. Many have food, they obviously have seating.. what else do you need? Bring in the Optomist club, or the lions or shriners, or who ever else. Organize Job fairs, or swap meets. Depending on the size of facility of course.

Senior Citizen afternoon dance once a month. Yes I did this $5 per couple $3 for individual. blasting away the walz and slammin some Big Band over 30,000 watts, it was awesome! Had about 200 people there most times.

One of my MANY "marketing" programs was "Placing Ads on "Coffee Cup Sleeves". These are cardboard-type "protectors that slip onto Styrofoam coffee cups to protect fingers from hot coffee.

Well.....after doing this for a few "Coffee Wagons" (They're free to coffee sellers).....I was in a local pub having a "Mick" when I got one of my "Hot Flashes"!

Why not provide "Free Drink Coasters" to bars?

I'd sell ads on these with the bars Name in the middle and ads around the rim or....the bar's name around the edge and 1 or 2 Ads in the middle.

The bars gladly accepted my "FREE" Coasters with their Names on them.

Then....another of my programs was placing Ads on Restaurant Coffee Cups. And...another day, as I was sipping suds at my local pub, I got another "Hot Flash"; Place Ads on Beer Glasses.

Another freebie for bars and a money-maker for me.

Once upon a time, I was invited to a social event. It was meant for a particular group of people and they had 1 "meeting" each month. Cost $10 to attend one and you got one free drink, the rest you paid for full price. I almost liked the group, so I attended 3 of them. The worst attended had 40-45 people present.

They were at places I had not been to before. I did return to one of them, about once every 2 months for about 2 years. Some of the other people must have returned too.

Drinks, at the time, at those places were between $3.50 and $5. The events were always on a Thursday or Tuesday. I think bringing 40-60 people on a Tuesday or a Thursday night tickles night club owners pink.

Especially if you give him/her a way to add all of them to a list (so he can text them offers).

So, can you hook your night club with some social/dating clubs? Or, maybe a salsa instructor or two... who, at the end of the 6 week Intro to Salsa takes his 10-20 students to show off their new skills in the real world? Some instructors, if not all, do something like that, I'm sure. The only one I know, in any case, does.

I just had the exact same idea regarding the ads on beer glasses while at the bar watching the playoffs today! How has it been working out for you? How do you charge your advertisers?

Per glass I hope... better yet we need to invent a sensor that determines wash cycle, so you can charge per customer using the glass.

Oh man.. did you feel it.. PPD (Pay per Drinker) marketing It could be HUGE.

And the sad part... having gone to school for Electronic engineering, I am in my head trying to figure this all out.

Better yet, with the Sensor, you could determine the ROI per glass, and its life span and its potential for breakage over time and OMG You could do this with dinner plates and salad plates and coffee cups, and you could have a GPS sensor in there when items come up missing you get in your car and track your beer mug down!

Oh my its 4:30 and I have been in CSS land for the last 16 hours, I need to goto bed! hahaha

Ive had a restaurant for 8 years and every business in hospitality needs lots of Graphics. Most clubs or pubs have weekly bands/djs which require the same ad for different formats such as fliers, magazines, newspapers, email, web, facebook etc. Then you have regularly changing menus which need doing, menu cover design and then all the hard products to design; coasters, matchboxes, business cards, sales kits, billboards.
I know a few people who find billboards to rent to clubs and restaurant, design and build them out and charge a monthly fee which gives you a recurring income and can make some good cash if you rent the space long term for cheaper rent.
I do all my own graphics now which saves alot of cash and headaches and was the instigator for me getting into IM.

List management and SMM would be a good business for hospitality as most owners are focused on the running of their business and not very tech savvy.

I think mobile would be a hard push as most restaurateurs have a decent website which would be responsive and wordpress have all the necessary plugins like tap to talk.

facebook marketing is unreal. I got my buddy who owns a club doing it. Creating a party every weekend and get a core group signing up to go to the event. Others follow suit not because of the club/event, but because of WHO ELSE is going. Tailor your marketing to women of course.

I get FB invites to 1 or 2 birthday parties a weekend, they are made the "hostess". They average run from 40-250 people, each throwing back a few $10 drinks.

I'd see some sort of affiliate marketing/promoter angle here too. Offering a few bucks/drinks/or VIP upgrade(nightclubbers love recognition) to FB amateurs that are influencers/connected that can bring in people.

How about a bar that delivers the booze and the food?

Changes up the whole bar going experience and allows you to enjoy it at home when you are unable to go to a bar because of kids, grandparents or whatever else may be the cause.

Might implement within my families bar, so getting feedback. Let me know if it works for you!

Any type of photography, video or media coverage. Their goals are to sell tickets, pack the venue and sell drinks. They need visual content which can also be used on social networks.

E Cigarettes. You can get them for dirt cheap if you order from directly from China. Bar owners are happy to keep there patrons inside drinking, instead of outside smoking. You can mark them up substantially, and still sell them to bar owners for cheap enough that they can make a profit selling them to customers.

E-cigarettes are growing in popularity at a ridiculous rate, and bars are the perfect place for them.

Facebook marketing - they know they need it, and they certainly will LOVE you if you do it well.
A Smartphone app would be a goodie too!

There are SO many services (and products for that matter) that you can sell to the night club industry. In the end it has to add to their main goal of increasing traffic and revenue (like every other business on the planet).

So whatever you are selling, anything from tshirts to Facebook marketing - sell them on why it will increase revenue and make sure it does! Then they will repeat business for a long time
