Can you help me with a pricing question

I want to begin offering local seo services in my area. I got a pretty good grip around pricing but what how are you accepting payments from customers?

For example, if I am selling ongoing site maintenance and hosting packages, what do you use or recommend for accepting the MRC's?

I know paypal is an option, but is that really the best, most preferred way or does it make you lose the authority factor?

I've used both paypal and fresh books.

    Code:

If you're selling hosting too, you might as well just use WHMCS. You can use it for things other than hosting. We use WHMCS for everything from websites, hosting, SSL certs, custom work and more.

You can also look into Harvest.

I use Paypal and have never had an issue. Some business owners have mailed me a check. Whenever I deal with a Canadian business, I try and get them to wire me the money via email interac. It's instant and fee-free.

Aside from Paypal, I believe google shopping cart offers a subscription-based billing. However, my advice would be to set up an LLC, set up a business checking account and sign up for a merchant account.

I might use paypal initially but will most likely will use Quickbooks for my merchant processing. I just need to compare to a merchant setup with my bank before going forward. The thing I like is the seamless fashion in which your transactions are automatically posted to your accounting software: no downloading and sinqing files at the end of the month!

I tried posting the link here but I don't have enough posts to do so. Just go to the quickbooks.intuit dot com page and you will find everything you need.

FYI, although I have not as yet opened my doors for business (currently setting up my infrastructure), during the course of my deciding how I wanted to handle my accounting, I found that Quickbooks has a feature for mobile devices called Gopayment. I think the Pro Plus version, which is the annual subscription service, is the lowest account you can get for this to work, but I will include their link at the bottom of this post for those of you that wish to look into this.

Just a small fee per swipe. No monthly fees, and you can cancel cancel anytime.

All you have to do is download the free app, acquire the free little reader that plugs into your mobile phone or tablet and you are off to the races. Of course, if you don't use Quickbooks pro Plus or Premium, and it you don''t have a phone that will work with their app, you are out of luck. They provide a list of the devices the reader will work with. But It is a seamless means of receiving payment on the spot and also setting up recurring payment accounts while you are with your customer. You can even email your customer the receipt which is just damn cool! Everything is automatically transferred to your books so there is no double entry.

I also remember that my banker told me that if I had one of their merchant accounts, I could pretty much do the same thing except the auto accounting part.

    Hope this has been helpful!
gopayment (dot)com is their url - this is not an affiliate link

Good luck and good marketing to all!

Jimmy, that's an awesome tip. Thanks. I wonder if that will work in Canada.
